Mitchell Johnson’s career-best six wickets and Shane Watson’s aggressive innings of 69 runs led Australia to a seven-wicket victory in the opening one-day international against Sri Lanka on Wednesday.

Johnson’s left-arm seamers claimed 6-31 to to restrict Sri Lanka to a modest 191, with lower-order batsman Suraj Randiv top-scoring with a six and four boundaries in 41 runs.

Watson then hit six sixes and five boundaries to help Australia to its first win of the tour, assisted by half-centuries from captain Michael Clarke (53 not out) and former skipper Ricky Ponting (53) at Pallekele International Stadium.

You are now seeing it: Chandimal has no talent. Mathews cannot save or win a match

priyantha, do u rember the match between Sl vs Aus at melbourn last year? Mathews and maali established a world record partnership and win that match. I think raja is correct. If u are not a realation of selectors u have a mental problem. Plz chek it. There are some bad days for any team. If our team fail again and again i agree with u.

    a you mad?
chindimal & jeewan good telant player/

Careless batting and going after the ball too much costed the match. Mahela’s was a really unnecessary shot and Dilshan’s was a miss-hit. Sanga’s was a babish hit. OK, let’s think all went wrong for them (of course they have won many matches for SL and this time they did not do it). My question is that what middle order batsmen are doing. Have Mathews ever turned a match in favour of SL? What is Chandimal doing? where is his talents? Randiv and Kulasekara showed that it was a very good batting wicket.

In the next match, please drop Chandimal and bring in Chamara Silva. Jeevan Mendis should be also dropped and Kandambi can be recalled.
