need to think about the tharanga as an opener and his contribution as a player. mahela as an opener has envisaged selectors eyes.
rangana herath’s performances was not satisfactory as a bowler and as a fielder. if thisara perera can be perform well specially in bowling then he would be an electrifying player.
ours are sentimental than foreigners. so initial big score would give others to continue with the momentum. so mahela – dilshan would be an ideal pair for the selectors. if thisara could be included, then we have strong players in our side. dilshan, jeewan, and ajantha are so much sufficient for managing spin department.
should not give 3rd odi a doubt. its a must win match for rest of the tournament. hope selectors and captain will able to get better selection.
please encourage our players to be positive while on fielding. let them to get examples from senior player like mahela. ruwan kalpage has a big role though our youngsters are not still agile.
hope everything will go for our team with the correct effort of our selectors.
Bad luck. But their fast bowlers got most of the wickets in 2 spinning grounds. Our fast bowlers do nothing cos there was no pace of our fast bowlers except Malinga. Kulasekara’s pace can not threat Australia batsmen, but he is a good batsman. Bring another FAST bowler to play with Malinga, then you can see the result. Why so much spinners. Please go with T20 Batting lineup & PLS DONT BRING 2 CHAMARAS.
to win this tournement we have to drop upul tharanga he’s just useless.mahela needs to open the innings with tm dilshan, then 1down should be dinesh chandimal,2 down sanga & chamara silva should bat @ 3down then i thnk we can win this series.
COME ON LIONS
i think we have change next matche . 01 st poor capatn in dilshan.
dinesh also not good preamance so far. matives. jeewan & mehela all same
I think we need to change the batting order against the Aussies if we are to make any impact..
may be Mahela & Dilshan opening.. I fully agree with Premasiri’s suggestion of bringing Mathews up the order.. 1 down Sanga & 2 down Mathews to provide stability
As our bowlers are not making any impact… should try the other options.. Shaminda Eranga
who is in the squad… I strongly believe that Sachthra Senanayake & Sekkuge Prassana have very sound talent should be drafted in to the squad & a chance should be given .. as Aussies are bit weak against spinners
i feel upset about the recent performance against the australians in the ODI matches this year. The batting by the openers was appauling as well as the peformance of Mahela J as he was dismised for 3 runs in the first ODI match. Sangakkara’s performance was inconsistant but reasonale in the second ODI match, as he reached half a century. Malingas injury was effecting his bowling, but he picked up a wicket, the country would have hoped for more. Kulasakara was very good as he picked up one wicket and got a decent score of 40 odd runs. Hearath desppite have the liberty of 8.2 overs he did appalingly bad as he did not pick up a single wickets. A Medis did not do any good for the team and i beleavee he could have done better. I was upset with the team and I hope that they improve in the next ODI matches.
Mahela & Sanngkkara are experienced enough to bat anywhere in the batting order; however their reflexes are getting slower day by day & nearing the end of their careers though they are not quite aware of it. Going to bat at the most vital positions & finding it is difficult to score runs as they did in their prime, it is the opposition bowler that gets more confident and makes things more difficult for the incoming batsmen. Therefore it is a main duty of Mahela & Sangakkara to groom youngsters for the future while they are still in and even after their careers are over, not like many ( National Players) who keep a blind eye towards the Game in the Country that has given so much to them.
Both Chandimal , Mathews ,are batsmen of extreme talent who have been showing their class since the age of 15. Their School & Domestic careers are far beyond compare. This kind of batsmen of quick reflexes, who have total control over all shots they play & have full array of strokes all around the wicket should be sent to bat at No 3 & 4 position without giving any undue pressure because they are our future. After all Chandimal is a batsmen who has already proved his class by scoring 2 centuries in batting at No 3 position and as for Mathews, his talent is wasted because, this so called ‘finishing job’ can be done only by batsmen who have full range of strokes, unfortunately allowing him to bat under pressure with few overs left is a crime that cannot be pardoned.
Not only these highly talented two, there are equally brilliant young Cricketers in the Country, the likes of Angelo Perera( The Best Schoolboy Batsman 2009 who was the highest run getter of the last year’s U-23 Tournament) The highest Wicket taker of this same Tournament, Umesh Karunarathna was The Best Schoolboy Cricketer of 2008 then there are batsmen Khausal Silva, Dimuth, Thirimanne, Rosen, Bhanuka, Paranawithana , Romesh Bhuddhika, Wimanga Perera, Chathuranga de Silva, Rosen Silva, Sachithra Serasinghe; All Rounders like: Janaka Gunarathne, Geeth Alwis, Geeth Kumara,Sachith Pathirana, Chathuranga Kumara and fast bowlers like: Charith Jayampathi, Chathura Pieris, and spinners ( who can spin the ball) like: Sachithra Senanayake, Dulanjana Mendis, Malinda Pushpakumara , SPrasnna These Cricketers are not ordinary players that the ones that selectors of last 15 years have always brought into the National Sides and those few they are still messing around with.
As I told earlier Chandimal has no talent. Drop him and bring in Chamara Silva. Mathemws is no better batsman than Kulasekara or Rnadiv. Better play Randiv rather than Mathemws
Otherwise Sri Lanka’s loosing streak continues
Chamara Silva? are you kidding he’s had enough chances also an aging player.. can he play till next world cup???
Mathews is the future captain he did give some stability in the 2nd ODI.. Chandimal is another future prospect who should be given more chances…
Just tell me a young batsman who didn’t fail against the Australians in the initial stages of their careers.. best e.g is Marvan attapattu… but when you recognize young raw talent they should be given chances.. do you think Chamara silva or Randiv could have changed the out come???? also we should bring young Banuka in to the team as there is nothing to loose at this stage at least we can be happy that we are building the future SL team which is an exciting prospect..
