Match Report Sri Lanka lost to Bangladesh in their first game in the Asia Cup 2018 played today by 137 runs; as they faltered for 124 runs, chasing a target of 261 in 50 0vers. Upul Tharanga and Kusal Mendis opened the innings for the Lankans, but Mendis was sent back quickly; when the score was on 22, then soon Tharanga, who was looking extremely good, as he made a brisk 27 from 16 balls with four boundaries and a six fell for a Mashrafe Mortaza delivery. Akila Dananjaya to join the team

Media Release 15th September, 2018 Akila Dananjaya, who did not travel with the team for the Asia Cup, will join the team on Sunday. (16th September, 2018) He will fly to UAE tomorrow. He did not travel with the team, as he had to attend the birth of his first child.

TV and Radio Rights of the England Tour offered to MTV Channel and ITN FM, respectively

Media Release 14th September, 2018 Sri Lanka Cricket wishes to announce that the Terrestrial Television and Radio Rights of the upcoming England Tour to Sri Lanka 2018 was offered to MTV Channel (Pvt) Limited and ITN FM, respectively. Accordingly, exclusive Television Rights was awarded to MTV Channel (Pvt) Limited, whilst exclusive Radio Rights was offered to ITN FM. SLC sought ‘’Expression of Interest’’ from interested parties to submit proposals and 4 parties came forward; seeking Television Rights, while 03 parties submitted proposals seeking Radio Rights. The ‘’Rights’’ were offered to the most attractive offer. England team will play 05 ODIs, 01 T20I and 03 Test matches during the months of October and November 2018 in Sri Lanka.

Dinesh Chandimal ruled out of Asia Cup, Dickwella to replace

Media Release 10th September, 2018 UPDATE ON DINESH CHANDIMAL Dinesh Chandimal will be out of the Asia Cup 2018, after it was found that the player will need more recovery time to heal his injury in the finger, which Chandimal sustained; during a match in the concluded SLC T20 League 2018. Wicket Keeper / Batsman Niroshan Dickwella will be replacing Chandimal in the 16 member squad. Dickwella was in the standby list of players.

Chandimal’s participation doubtful for Asia Cup; Dananjaya to travel later in the tour

Media Release 04th September, 2018 Dinesh Chandimal Dinesh Chandimal, who has been included in the 16 member squad to take part in the Asia Cup 2018, has sustained a broken finger; during a match in the concluded SLC T20 League 2018. Chandimal’s condition will be reassessed by a medical specialist during this week. His participation in the Asia Cup will be decided based on the medical report. Akila Dananjaya In the meantime, Akila Dananjaya will not travel with the team for the Asia Cup in UAE on the 11th September, 2018, as he has to attend a family matter (Birth of his first child).
