Educational Programme on Suspect Bowling Actions

An educational workshop was conducted by SLC for SLSCA comprising of 67 Schools from the Division 1 & 2 Schools in the Country. The outcome of the workshop was mainly focused on problem faced by many Schools in the Country with regard bowlers who have been suspended from bowing in inter Schools matches pertaining to reports sent by umpires to SLC. The conducted workshop enlightened the participants on the technicalities of suspect bowling actions educating them on the issues faced by all parties involved with the sport. Regional ICC International Panel Umpire workshop in Sri Lanka

This programme is conducted by Simon Taufel – ICC Umpire Performance & Training Manager who has been an ICC Elite Panel umpire for several years. International Umpires from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are taking part in this training programme.

SLC Conducts Level 2 Coaching Course

Sri Lanka Cricket wishes to announce that the SLC ‘Coach Education Unit’ ‘with the assistance of Coaching Staff from the ‘National Coaching Department’ conducted their second Level 2 Coaching Course which was incidentally the first ever Course open to the Coaching fraternity of Sri Lanka. The inaugural Course of this nature was successfully conducted earlier this year for Premier Club & SLC Provincial & District Coaches. All tutors at this Course were our very own qualified Sri Lankan experts with years of experience in the Coaching field. SLC wishes to announce that several Executive members recently visited Monaragala, Nuwara Eliya, Batticalo, Polonnaruwa with a view of providing facilities for the District to enhance the Infrastructure Development in these areas for the betterment of the game. The Executive Committee Members were Mohan De Silva, Nishantha Ranatunga, Erwin Jayawardene & Dr. Sanjay Sedara. Sri Lanka Cricket wishes to announce that the The ICC’s umpires coach Simon Taufel has been invited by Sri Lanka Cricket to conduct a series of programmes with a view to enhance the skills of local umpires. Simon will be in Sri Lanka from October 14 to 22 of October 2013. SLC’s Cricket Actg. SLC National Coaching Department together with National Selectors conducted an Cricket ‘Talent Search’ program at the Dambulla International Cricket  Stadium. The main objective of this exercise was to search for young talent at age group level. The training program was attended by (148) Cricketers from the ages of (14) to (19) years old. The Cricketers represented the districts of Kurunegala / Matale /Anuradhapura & Polonnaruwa. Cricketers who attended the program were from various Schools in the North Central Province, Cricketers identified with talent will continue to work closely with the respective District & Provincial Coach, while any Cricketers identified with extreme talent will be drafted to the National age group squads which are managed by the SLC  National Coaching department. Three Day Coaching Programme with Les Lenham

Sri Lanka Cricket successfully conducted its first of two three day Coaching Programs for selected Cricket Coaches in the Country at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium. Les Lenham’ who comes from Sussex, England last visited Sri Lanka in late 1990;’s, while he is a renowned Cricket Coach in the UK for many years over the last few decades he is well known for his teaching skills in basic & advance techniques in the game of Cricket. The first program was conducted successfully on the 25,26,27 September 2013 for 37 Schools division 1 Cricket Coaches & 14 Premier Club Coaches. The second Course will be conducted on the 30th September 1st & 2 October for 43 SLC Provincial & District Coaches.
