At an Emergency General Meeting of the membership of Sri Lanka Cricket held on Sunday (18) at the SLC Headquarters in Colombo 7. At the said EGM which was attended by over 60 member clubs, the membership unanimously ratified the proposed changes to the constitution of SLC which was adopted in 2003. The membership also considered and adopted the Audited Financial Statements for the period ending December 31st 2015. The meeting was attended by representation from 61 of 83 member Associations and Clubs counting for a 73% turnout of the membership. Resolution No.1 which was unanimously adopted by the membership.

SLC removes restrictions that see talent under-utilized Sri Lanka Cricket announced today (28) in a widely lauded move, that any players who have participated in the national tournaments during the current season will be eligible to play in higher tier tournaments during the same season, subject to the club represented at a lower tier not participating at the higher tier. The decision was made in consideration of circumstances whereby talented young players are forced to miss the tournaments due to employment obligations and the like, which have thus far rendered them ineligible to play at higher tiers. Rs. 264 Million invested in conducting the Premier Tournament 2016. Sri Lanka Cricket announced on this week that it has allocated impressive sum of Rs. 264 Million to conduct the Premier Tournaments of 2016 which will commence on the 25th of November. The first ever women’s training program in Badulla District was held on 26/10/2016. The program was conducted by the Badulla District Cricket Association under the guidance of Sri Lanka Cricket. Training sessions were conducted by the District and Provincial Coaches.
Central Province Womens Cricket training program was held in Pallekele International Cricket Ground. Around 70 girls from Kegalle, Nuwaraeliya and Kandy were participated. The main objective of the program was to promote the basic techniques of Cricket.
The first ever women’s training program in Monaragala District was held on 26/10/2016. The program was conducted by the Monaragala District Cricket Association under the guidance of Sri Lanka Cricket. Over 100 School girls and club players were participated. Training was conducted by the District and ProvincialCoaches.
Sri Lanka’s most successful fast bowler Chaminda Vaas will be back with Sri Lanka Cricket’s (SLC) Coaching Staff, revealed SLC President Hon. Thilanga Sumathipala today. Vaas will be Sri Lanka Cricket’s Lead Fast Bowling Coach. President stated that, Vaas will be handed the responsibilities of training Sri Lanka’s fast bowling squad which will comprise fast bowlers coming through District, Provincial and Developments Squads. “We have requested Vaas to start working with us from the end of this month” said President of SLC.
