Sri Lanka Cricket wishes to announce that the Executive Committee met with all the Controlling & Affiliated Clubs and requested them to submit proposals in order to develop the infrastructure and the development of cricket of their respective clubs. They also took into consideration those clubs without grounds and other facilities for which provision was made to cover the cost of practice facilities and away matches. The clubs forwarded their proposals of their planned projects to the Executive Committee for their perusal. National Development Committee headed by President SLC Mr. Jayantha Dharmadasa compiled a document based on all the proposed projects and the Executive Committee decided to provide the following grant to the Clubs. Sri Lanka Cricket successfully conducted its first of two three day Coaching Programs for selected Cricket Coaches in the Country at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium. Les Lenham’ who comes from Sussex, England last visited Sri Lanka in late 1990;’s, while he is a renowned Cricket Coach in the UK for many years over the last few decades he is well known for his teaching skills in basic & advance techniques in the game of Cricket. The first program was conducted successfully on the 25,26,27 September 2013 for 37 Schools division 1 Cricket Coaches & 14 Premier Club Coaches. The second Course will be conducted on the 30th September 1st & 2 October for 43 SLC Provincial & District Coaches.

The Prima Champions Cup inter-district and inter-provincial under 15 cricket tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket and sponsored by Prima Group will commence on September 2 2013. The press conference was held at the SLC headquarters on 23rd August 2013 with the participation of all senior officials from SLC and Prima Group. The tournament commencing on the 2nd September 2013 will allow the participation of 560 players from all around the country including the north & east. 28 team will compete against each other and best players from these districts teams will be selected for the provincial teams. 10 provincial teams will then compete for the Provincial Championship.
Kandurata Maroons have won the Super 4′s T20 and will compete for the Champions League T20 in India starting mid September. Congratulations to Lahiru Thirimanne and his team.

Sri Lanka Under 17 team left to England this morning(8th August), England tour will take place during August 9 to 25. Royal College allrounder Chamika Karunaratne is the skipper of the side while Madawa Nimesh from Royal Panadura will be his deputy on tour. A Special Grant of Rs. 100,000/- was given to each player of the National Under 17 team before they took wing to England today. This Special Grant was given to the players for their welfare and nourishment.

The heavy overnight rain fell which made the pitches at Merrion and YMCA unplayable in the morning and final matches were abandoned. The Pakistan v Sri Lanka match was abandoned and therefore the trophy was shared, Sri Lanka finish above Pakistan in the rankings due to net run rate as both teams had won an equal amount of matches throughout the tournament.
