Sri Lanka Cricket’s Cricket Aid was launched in London on Saturday evening (4th) amidst a packed gathering of cricketers and well-wishers. The dinner, which was preceded by a tour of Lord’s and followed by a documentary presentation that detailed the work of Cricket Aid as well as the CKD pandemic. Cricket Aid is pleased to announce that over £200,000 was pledged at the launch events, held on the 4th and 5 th (being an open event held at the Surrey Grounds, where the Sri Lanka national team met and mingled with cricket lovers residing in the UK.) Sri Lankan and South African cricketers raise funds for the Sri Lanka Visually Handicapped XI Standard Chartered joins hands with Sri Lanka Cricket to continue its efforts to raise funds and awareness for the Sri Lankan Visually Handicapped XI and its bid at this year’s World Cup in South Africa in November. The money-can’t-buy experience fund raising activity was held at Taj Samudra, Colombo on 21st July which provided a meet and greet opportunity for avid fans and the chance to bid for memorabilia at an exclusive event attended by members of both the South Africa and Sri Lanka teams.
Cricket practice nets jointly undertaken by Sri Lanka Cricket and the Foundation of Goodness is an initiative to promote cricket development in rural schools spread widely in the north & east. Post conflict era has seen enormous talent which needs to be harnessed for the greater advancement of cricket in our nation. Sri Lanka Cricket through its National Development Committee headed by President Jayantha Dharmadasa has started a Infrastructure Development Plan for its stakeholders, such as Districts, Clubs, Associations, Provinces, and Schools. Cricket Ball 2013 SLC together with SLC UK Committee organized a fundraising event to honour the Sri Lanka Cricket Team and raise funds for the development of Schools and District Cricket in Sri Lanka. The function was held at the prestigious five star Grange St Paul’s Hotel in London on Saturday 15th June 2013. The money raised from the function will be dedicated to the development of School and District Cricket in Sri Lanka.
A fund raising program was held in Sydney with the for Sri Lankan Schools Cricket Development with the participation of the National team.
