Media Release An Emergency meeting of the ExCo was held today at SLC. The Members of the Executive Committee unanimously endorsed that the decision to abstain from voting. Considering the circumstances it was most appropriate as it provided time to consider the revised proposals put forward by the ICC.
Media Release At the ICC Board meeting held today in Singapore,the revised resolution relating to the governance, competition and financial models of ICC were presented. The scope of the Resolutions presently proposed were substantially changed, for which SLC required a fresh mandate from the Executive Committee and Stakeholders. As this was intimated to SLC this morning, the SLC representative at the ICC Board meeting abstained from voting as SLC were unable to obtain such mandate today, and would therefore have to go back to the Executive Committee and stakeholders before voting on the Resolutions. Mahela Jayawardena has jumped five places to 13th in the latest Reliance ICC Player Rankings for Test Batsmen following his unbeaten knock of 203, against Bangladesh in the first Test at Mirpur. Sri Lanka Cricket wishes to announce that it has decided to release Lasith Malinga for the forthcoming Big Bash Semi Final to be played in Australia. Lasith Malinga was recalled to the country for a Intense Training Programme and since he had shown a tremendous improvement in his fitness levels in the said training programme the National Coaching Staff together with the National Selectors took the decision to release him to play in the Big Bash. As per the special request made by the Management of the Melbourne Stars to SLC, Lasith Malinga was given permission to proceed for the Semi Final which will be played on the 4th of February 2014.

The SLC Executive Committee met today(23rd January) and the Draft F&CA Commercial Rights Working Group Position Paper was taken up for discussion. The Committee agreed to write to the President of the International Cricket Council and inform them the unanimous view of the Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket is that the said Position Paper needs to be deferred and re-considered in toto on a future date. They further decided to discuss with the General Membership of SLC too at a future date.
