Event Technical Committee approves replacement in Sri Lanka’s squad


The ICC has confirmed that the Event Technical Committee of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 has approved Dushmantha Chameera as a replacement player for Dhammika Prasad in Sri Lanka’s squad for the tournament, which starts on 14 February. Prasad fractured his hand while training on Saturday. The 23-year-old Chameera’s only ODI was against Sri Lanka in Wellington last month, in which he returned figures of two for 60. Any injury or illness-based replacement requires a written submission to the Event Technical Committee along with a diagnosis from a medical practitioner as to the extent of the injury or illness. Dushmantha Chameera to replace injured Dhammika Prasad


Media Release Dhammika Prasad will not be in a position to represent the World Cup squad for the upcoming 2015 ICC WC owing to the injuries received by him during practice. Hence the Selection Committee in consultation with the Team Management has approved to include Dushmantha Chameera in place of Dhammika Prasad in the above squad subject to receiving the ICC Technical Committee’s approval in this regard. Media release Dhammika Prasad was hit on the outside of the left hand when attempting a return catch while bowling today.  X-ray showed a fracture of the 5th metacarpal bone.  The fracture has been realigned and put in a cast. Dhammika will not be available for the upcoming World Cup. Sri Lanka Cricket will follow the ICC protocol in order take the process forward.

Sri Lanka’s Nuwan Kulasekera found guilty of Level 1 offence


ICC Media Release Sri Lanka player Nuwan Kulasekera was issued with an official reprimand after committing a Level 1 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct during the 7th One Day International against New Zealand in Wellington on Thursday. A crafty 113 off 105 balls from Kumar Sangakkara helped Sri Lanka register a 34-run win over New Zealand in the seventh and final One-Day International between the two sides in Wellington on Thursday (January 29). Rumesh Ratnayake appointed Fast Bowling Consultant
