Media Release Sri Lanka Cricket wishes to announce that the two National Women’s team players Sandamali Dolawatte and Chamani Seneviratne tendered their resignation to the Chief Executive Officer Mr. Ashley De Silva on the 29th of December 2013. SLC wishes to state that on the 29th morning Sandamali Dolawatte was informed to attend a final selection trial match scheduled on the 30th of December 2013. Media Release Sri Lanka Cricket wishes to announce that Thisara Perera was not granted the No Objection Certificate (NOC) by SLC in order to prevent him from taking part in the Big Bash League in Australia. This decision was made in consultation with the National Selectors. ICC Media Release Ahmed Shehzad has been fined 50 per cent of his match fee after pleading guilty to a Level 2 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct during Pakistan’s 113 run victory over Sri Lanka in the third One-Day International (ODI) in Sharjah on Sunday. The opener was found to have breached Article 2.2.4 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “inappropriate and deliberate physical contact between Players in the course of play during an International Match”. Media Release Rangana Herath will not be taking part in the ODI series against Pakistan which is scheduled to begin on the 18th of December at Sharjah. Ajantha Mendis, who was to be flown back to Sri Lanka upon completion of the current T20 series will remain with the Sri Lankan team as a replacement for Rangana Herath during the ODI Series. However, Rangana will be available for the Test Series against Pakistan later in the tour.
Kumar Sangakkara has been crowned as ODI Cricketer of the Year – 2013 by the International Cricket Council (ICC), while Mahela Jayawardane won the Spirit of Cricket Award. Media Release SLC would like to inform the media that Mr. Paul Farbrace, met with Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Officials today at SLC Head Quarters. SLC committee which was headed by Mr. Ranjith Feranando the Chairman of the Cricket Committee had detailed discussions with Mr. Farbrace pertaining to the Head Team Coach position of the Sri Lankan National team. SLC Vice President Mohan De Silva, Secretary Nishantha Ranatunga, Treasurer Nuski Mohamed, CEO Ashley De Silva and Head of Coaching Jerome Jayaratne joined Mr. Fernando for the meeting. A further round of talks is scheduled for next week between Mr. Farbrace and SLC. A final decision on the appointment of the National Head Coach will be made later.
