Mathews now fifth in the ODI all-rounders’ table

ICC Media Release Sri Lanka vice-captain Angelo Mathews has broken into the top five of the Reliance ICC Player Rankings for ODI all-rounders in the latest rankings released on Tuesday, after his team’s series against New Zealand. Mathews moved up a place to fifth and also achieved his career-best rating of 331 in the fourth ODI in Hambantota. The all-rounders’ table is still headed by Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan, with Mohammad Hafeez in second position, followed by Shane Watson in third place. Premier Clubs and SLC decide on a proposed domestic structure from now and into the future

Media Release Considering the request of all Premier Cricket Clubs the Cricket Committee & Officials of Sri Lanka Cricket met the respective Premier Cricket Clubs and discussed the new domestic structure that may come in effect from the current season. The Clubs although agreed that the cricket structure and options provided by the Cricket Committee and Sri Lanka Cricket will need to be implemented at some time, requested SLC to consider their request and phase out the tournament to ensure that in a year or 2 the proposed structure by the Cricket Committee and Sri Lanka Cricket will need to adhered to ensure that proper talent is harnessed. Important Notice to the General Public

Further to the decision to change the venue of the New Zealand tour ODI’s from Colombo to Kandy due to the prevailing weather condition, the general public are advised that tickets purchased for the 2nd & 3rd of the ODI which was supposed to be played in Colombo, will be valid for the Kandy matches. The general public who will not be able to use their tickets and  who require a refund for their purchased tickets are requested to collect their refunds from the SLC head office before 12.30 pm on or before the 4th of November 2012. Tickets for the 2nd & 3rd ODI are available in Kandy at the Abans City Center & the Pallekelle Stadium

Sri Lanka Cricket’s Test Matches – Press Release

Media Release There has been numerous articles carried in newspapers and websites lately, stating that Sri Lanka Cricket has been scrapping Test Matches to accommodate ODIs and T20s. Sri Lanka Cricket wishes to state that contrary to what has been publicized, the actual position is as follows:- 2010 – 6 test matches against West Indies and India 2011 – 11 Test matches against England Australia, Pakistan and South Africa. 2012 – 6 Test matches so far against South Africa, England and Pakistan. Change in venue of second and third ODIs against NZ

Media Release Sri Lanka Cricket in consultation with New Zealand Cricket and Host Broadcaster Taj Entertainment Network has decided to change the venue for the 2nd & 3rd ODI’s of the the on going series against New Zealand from R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo to Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy. The matches will be played on the 4th and 6th of November. Tickets issued for the 2nd and 3rd ODI’s previously will be valid for entry into the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on match day. ICC Media Release The new playing conditions for Tests, One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) will come into effect with the series between Sri Lanka and New Zealand which starts in Pallekele on Tuesday 30 October. The amendments have been approved by the ICC Board following proposals made by the ICC Cricket Committee at its meeting in London in May. It is important to note that the playing conditions are applicable to international cricket and must be read together with the Laws of Cricket. Meeting with Club Representatives to discuss the new Tournament Structure

Sri Lanka fined for maintaining a slow over-rate against West Indies

ICC Media Release The Sri Lanka team has been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during the side’s ICC World Twenty20 Sri Lanka 2012 Super Eight fixture against West Indies on Saturday. Javagal Srinath of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees imposed the fines after Mahela Jayawardena’s side was ruled to be one over short of its target at the end of the match when time allowances were taken into consideration.
