Media Release The National Selectors have included Upul Tharanga into the squad for the 3rd and Final Test against Pakistan to be played in Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Kandy. Tharanga comes in as a replacement to Kumar Sangakkara, who will not be available for selection for the final Test match. Hon. Navin Dissanayake, Minister of Tourism and Sports has ratified the decision of the selectors. The 3rd and final Test starts on Friday the 3rd of July with the series tied 1-1.
The National Selectors have re appointed All Rounder Shashikala Siriwardene as the Captain of the Sri Lanka National Women’s Team for the ODI and Twenty20 formats. Chamari Attapattu will be the Vice Captain of the Team. The Selectors decision was ratified by the Minister of Tourism and Sports Hon. Navin Dissanayake.
With the threat of rain looming on the final day of their second Test against Pakistan on Monday (June 29), Sri Lanka came out intent on polishing off the 153-run chase as soon as it could and level the three-Test series 1-1 at the P Sara Oval in Colombo. Sri Lanka’s batting great Kumar Sangakkara on Saturday ended speculation about his future, saying he will retire during the home series against India in August. “This is my time to call it a day,” Sangakkara, 37, told reporters on the sidelines of the second Test against Pakistan at the P.
