Dharmasena to officiate in the U19 World Cup

The ICC has announced the match officials for the upcoming ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2010, to be held from 15 to 30 January in New Zealand. Jeff Crowe, Javagal Srinath and Brian Aldridge will be the match referees for the tournament, while the on-field umpires will be drawn from the Emirates International Panel of ICC Umpires, and the ICC Associate and Affiliate International Umpires’ Panel. International panel umpires include Gary Baxter, Owen Chirombe, Kumar Dharmasena, Nadeem Ghouri, Brian Jerling, Richard Kettleborough, Norman Malcolm, Bruce Oxenford, Nadir Shah and Shavir Tarapore. ICC statement on New Delhi ODI

Emirates Elite Panel Match Referee Alan Hurst today issued the following statement after the fifth and final ODI between India and Sri Lanka at the Feroz Shah Kotla ground in New Delhi was abandoned on Sunday. “The decision to abandon the match was taken by myself, in consultation with the on-field umpires Marais Erasmus and Shavir Tarapore, and both captains as it was clear that the pitch had extremely variable bounce and was too dangerous for further play. “I’d like to commend the on-field umpires and captains for continuing as long as they did in the hope that the pitch may settle down. Dhoni gets his hands on the ICC Test Championship mace

India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni got his hands on the symbol of his side’s new status in Test cricket on Sunday, the Reliance Mobile ICC Test Championship mace. This is the first time India has achieved the number-one ranking since the championship was introduced in May 2001.
