Pallekele Stadium Officially Declared Open

By Brian Thomas Chairman Sri Lanka Cricket Mr D.S.De Silva together with the Governor Of Central Province  Hon Tikiri Kobbekaduwa and Chief Minister of Central Province Hon Sarath Ekanayake graced the occasion. The clergy invoked their blessings, at the soft opening ceremony. The ground is well constructed and the outfield is spread with a special layer of grass namely “Santana Cooch”.This variety is of Australian origin and is sourced from the Victoria Golflinks situated close to the stadium. National curator Anuruddha Polonowita who briefed the media stated that this venue has ten center pitches. This picturesque venue will also have twenty practice wickets outside the ground, behind the main pavilion. 2nd Test, day 3 at Green Park in Kanpur

Trailing by 576 runs with Dilshan out without scoring, Kumar Sangagkara will be regretting that he lost a vital toss on day 1. The pitch at Kanpur played well on day one but showed signs of bounce and turn in the second session of play yesterday.

Prasad Ruled Out of 2nd Test

Dhammika Prasad is ruled out of the 2nd Test match against India scheduled for 24th November at Kanpur. Prasad has injured his left hamstring whilst fielding on day 4. MRI scans later revealed a mild Grade 1 strain. Tillekeratne Dilshan also suffered a nose injury whilst being involved in a post match warm up game upon conclusion of the 1st Test match.
