Manager – Sri Lanka ‘A’ Mr. Jayantha Seneviratne has been appointed as the Manager of the Sri Lanka ‘A’ Team for a period of one year from 1st of September 2013. The appointment of a Team Manager will ensure that Team is well maintained with regard to training, logistics, player development programmes, to ensure scheduling of practices & training are carried out efficiently & effectively by the support staff. Sri Lanka umpire Ponnadurai dies, aged 78

It is great sadness that Sri Lanka Cricket announcers the demise of Umpire Mr. Selliah Ponnadurai who passed away at the age of 78 years. His remains are at Jayaratne Funeral Parlour , Borella on 16th August onwards. Cremation will be on Sunday 18th August at Borella General Cemetery at 10 am. When inquired by SLC, Sri Lanka National Team Coach Graham Ford has stated,  “During the Champions Trophy I was informally asked by the Surrey CEO if I would consider their vacant position. My reply was that my SL contract finished in January 2014 and would consider all options available to me from there on. Tillakaratne Dilshan scored a swashbuckling 74 off 51 balls as Sri Lanka beat South Africa by six wickets in the last of the three Twenty20s, on Tuesday (Aug 6). The result not only helped avoid a 3-0 whitewash, it also ensured Sri Lanka retained its No. 1 status in Twenty20. Schedule of Sri Lanka Tour To Pakistan 2013-14

Sri Lanka shall be playing a full cricket series against Pakistan in its return bilateral tour 2013-14, which the Pakistan Cricket Board is hosting in the United Arab Emirates – with Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah being the venues. The tour itinerary has been approved after consultation between the Pakistan Cricket Board and its Sri Lankan counterpart. The tour commences on December 7, 2013 with the arrival of the Sri Lankan squad at Dubai, and shall continue through to January 21, 2014. South Africa put its campaign in Sri Lanka back on track when it won the first of the three Twenty20 Internationals by 12 runs in Colombo on Friday (August 2) evening, having lost the One-Day International series 4-1 earlier. The heavy overnight rain fell which made the pitches at Merrion and YMCA unplayable in the morning and final matches were abandoned. The Pakistan v Sri Lanka match was abandoned and therefore the trophy was shared, Sri Lanka finish above Pakistan in the rankings due to net run rate as both teams had won an equal amount of matches throughout the tournament. Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Sri Lanka scored a challenging 307-4 in 50 overs. Dilshan hit 13 boundaries in his 110-ball innings and shared 163 runs for the second wicket with No. 3 batsman Lahiru Thirimanne (68). Sangakkara faced just 45 deliveries and hit 12 boundaries.
