Sri Lanka Cricket wishes to announce that Prime Minister Hon. Ranil Wickramasinghe visited the Hambantota Mahinda Rajapakse International Cricket Stadium today. The Prime Minister was welcomed by President of Sri Lanka Cricket Hon. Thilanga Sumathipla. Hambantota District MP Hon. Sajith Premadasa together with Hon. Sagala Rathnayake too accompanied the Prime Minister on this tour. After a brief tour of the stadium, the Prime Minister and President of SLC together with officials of SLC had discussions as to how to sustain and maximise the utilisation of the stadium in the future. At this discussion the Prime Minister agreed to assist Sri Lanka Cricket with Hotel facilities in the vicinity of the stadium for the benefit & convenience of the visiting teams.

Sri Lanka Cricket wishes to announce that Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka (Member of Parliament) visited Sri Lanka Cricket on the invitation of SLC president Hon. Thilanga Sumapthipala today. The purpose of his visit was to have informal discussions with the Sri Lanka National Team and its support staff on overcoming challengers. During the discussion Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka shared his experiences as the former commander of the Sri Lanka Army where his tactics paved the way to outsmart his opponents. At the conclusion of the discussions the players expressed their gratitude to the Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka for the insight that he provided.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) today announced the match timings and warm-up schedule of the ICC World Twenty20 India 2016, which be staged at eight venues in India from 8 March to 3 April. The men’s afternoon matches will take place from 15h00-18h10, while the evening matches will be played from 19h30-22h40. The semi-finals and the final will be held from 19h00-22h10.
