Media Release Sri Lanka Cricket wishes to announce that the England Under 17 team will be touring Sri Lanka from the 10th of April 2014 until the 27th of April 2014. England Under 17 Team will start their tour with a One Day Match at Surrey Village on the 17th of April followed by a One Day Match on the 19th of April at SSC. The 3rd One Day Match will be on the 21st April at SSC. The final match will be on the 24th April which will be a 3 day match at Colombo Colts Cricket Club.
The Prima Champions Cup inter-district and inter-provincial under 15 cricket tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket and sponsored by Prima Group will commence on September 2 2013. The press conference was held at the SLC headquarters on 23rd August 2013 with the participation of all senior officials from SLC and Prima Group. The tournament commencing on the 2nd September 2013 will allow the participation of 560 players from all around the country including the north & east. 28 team will compete against each other and best players from these districts teams will be selected for the provincial teams. 10 provincial teams will then compete for the Provincial Championship.
Sri Lanka completed a series victory over Bangladesh by beating them by 62 runs in the fifth and final game of the series in Mirpur. It was an impressive turnaround for the young visitors, after they were down 2-1 after the third game. Cricket Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) at a recent meeting unanimously decided to inform School Authorities and Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association that there is a dearth of Fast Bowlers, coming through the school system to facilitate Sri Lanka cricket at the elite level.
