National Squad for the 3rd & 4th ODI against South Africa

The Selection Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket at its meeting held on 24th July 2013, selected the following 15 member squad to represent the National Team for the 3rd & 4th ODI matches against South Africa to be played on the 26th and 28th July 2013. The Hon.  Minister of Sports has been approved the following squad. Angelo Mathews will be returning to the National Team as Captain after the suspension of the first two ODI s. Needing 176 from 29 overs, South Africa stutters to 104 for 5 in 21 overs, losing by 17 runs on D/L method. Rangana Herath’s two crucial wickets helped Sri Lanka beat South Africa by 17 runs in a rain-affected One-Day International, and take a 2-0 lead in the five-match series, in Colombo on Tuesday (July 23). Sanga blitz seals 180-run win over South Africa

Kumar Sangakkara smashed his highest One-Day International score of 169, scored off 137 balls, as Sri Lanka thrashed South Africa by 180 runs in the first ODI in Colombo on Saturday (July 21). Sangakkara’s 16th ODI century steered Sri Lanka to 320 for 5 after it was sent in to bat. South Africa was then shot out for 140, the innings lasting just 31.5 overs, to leave Sri Lanka with a 1-0 lead in the five-match series. Sri Lanka Cricket wishes to announce, that South Africa will arrive tomorrow (Monday) in Sri Lanka on a 5 ODI & 3 T20 matches to be played from the 20th of July 2013 onwards. The world famous Proteas will go all out to beat the Lions in their homeland and it will be  explosive cricket all around in the next few weeks. South Africa who first came to Sri Lanka in 1993 under the captaincy of Kepler Wessels, are on their 3rd tour of Sri Lanka. Cricket South Africa (CSA) named both the ODI and T20 squads for the Sri Lankan tour on Thursday.David Wiese of the Titans will become the 58th player to represent the Proteas squad in the shortest format when he makes his debut in the T20 International Series against Sri Lanka next month. Wiese is the only new cap.
