West Indies finally had something to smile about at the end of what has been a difficult outing of Sri Lanka, scoring its first victory in the final game of the tour to draw the two-match Twenty20 International series 1-1 at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Wednesday (November 11). Having lost the Test series 0-2 and the One-Day International series 0-3, West Indies was in genuine danger of leaving Sri Lanka without a win on tour when it finally played the kind of limited-overs cricket it is known for on its way to a 23-run win in the second and final T20I. Building on Johnson Charles and Andre Fletcher’s 62-run stand for the first wicket, West Indies posted 162 for… Read More →

Last chance for West Indies to salvage some pride

_D4W0013x

It has been over a month since West Indies landed on Sri Lankan shores, and it has been a tour to forget for it. West Indies managed a draw against a Sri Lanka Board President’s XI in the pre-series tour game, lost the two-Test series 2-0, won a practice game on the Duckworth-Lewis method, lost the One-Day International series 3-0 and is now down 1-0 in the two-match Twenty20 International series. Not much to write home about. Fortunately, it has one last chance to go home with at least one win under its belt. Unfortunately, with Sri Lanka looking to assert its dominance, the match at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Wednesday (November 11) could be just another exhausting encounter for… Read More →

West Indies bowler Sunil Narine has been reported with a suspect bowling action during the third ODI against Sri Lanka, which the home side won by 19 runs in Pallekele on Saturday.
