Live score card – Airtel Champions league T20 2010 – Wayamba Vs Victoria

  • Migara

Time for Mubarak to take off the hat..!! Who manages this Wayamba team?? The team owners need to replace the skipper and give the hat to Mahela. At least next time around, please play serious cricket!!
Now, even if you win the last match, we don’t care!!! You represented the whole country’s domestic cricket and failed miserably! Please don’t win the next years Domestic T20 series..!!

    • chanaka

no dear… we cann’t blame to mubarak and wayamba managers bec 11 out of 15 players of wayamba squad have already got international caps…ajantha mendis, welagedara, thisara perera , mahela, herath, jeevantha kulatunga all these players in worldcup final 25 members squad.. these are international players…but all these played as school cricketers… wat abt thissara ,mendis, welagedara, herath what they did, nothing,,, only jeevantha kulatunga and mahela got half centuries…… worry about srilankan cricket……………

  • very know cricketer

okkkk some guyz talking about jeewantha kulatunga …..jeewantha kulatunga has enough talent to play international leval but he has not got luck… batsman like kapugedarana not talent like jeevantha but kapuva has luck..thats why he is in the squad ,….. but we have to wait and see final clt 20 match of wayamba againts central.stag ..bec if kulatunga gets a century or half century….in that game…..may be…selecters will become challenge …still we cann’t say kulatunga is not a super hero…but we have to wait and see till the next game

Wayamba has gone from good to bad and ultimately to the worst. This is a pathetic display of cricket by SL’s best team in T20s. It may be that only Mahela Jayawardena is fitting to the national squad from the Wayamba team. Sadly none other is good enough for SL team. It is very surprising that Wayamba is the SL Champions. Maybe some kind of luck worked for them.

But no worries, we have other players in Sri Lanka for our national squad.

  • Pubudu

Welagedara is so pathetic he should be taken out of the 2010 world cup plan.
Chaminda Vass is the only option if we are to have a left arm fast bowler in the 2010 world cup side who has performed well in English domestic T20 championship. Also Nuwan pradeep can be tried out.
Ajantha Mendis is failing miserably as per my view spin options available for world cup is Murali, Randiv & maybe getting Malinga Bandara in to the side, where he had a good English domestic season.

  • Pubudu

Think about getting Jayasuriya into the side you must be joking he’s time is over
if you have seen him batting in the last matches he played he was shaking when he holds the bat & the reflexes are slow & bat turns when he hit the balls giving dolly catches & so nervous.
Any way that wish of yours will come true!! he’s already in a training squad and will play world cup 2010 whether he’s out for a duck in each match. That’s the politicized cricket of ours.
Sanga has asked for chandimal & Jeewan Mendis but whether he can get them for the upcoming series we have to wait and see. They should be given the chance with Kulatunga if Chandimal performs better that Kulatunga then it should be curtains for Kulatunga that’s positive competition isn’t it logical is too much to be asked to provide a series or two to Kulatunga to see if he’s fit for world cup??

wayamba never win champions league.kandurata the team can do it.hope next time kandurata will win provincial tournament.

  • Kevin

Ok..! So you guys still believe this Jeevantha Kulathunga is a super hero, huh? Lets face it guys…. he is a batsman with only talent and luck…! He desperately needs to build technique. Do we need another Sanath Jayasooriya at 30+ years of age or are we looking for a quality young batsman who can really deliver when it matters??
To all who talk big about Jeevantha Kulathunga….. you may be one way or the other connected to him, but talk to your hearts and think if he is a a good opener for the national team for the world cup!!

    • Pubudu

OK. Jeewantha failed again & He’s not a super hero accepted !!! I have no links to him ,as per you Jeewantha Kulatunga has talent & luck no technique! my opinion he has far better technique than Dilshan & Kapugedara to name a few but the luck is not there, but we persisted with Dilshan with string of failures & see he is doing superbly what about Kapugedara he is performing once in a blue moon he has so much talent but under performing.
My question is why even a series was not given to Jeewantha where less talented & under performing guys gets so many chances.
check his profile at cricinfo and see the stats where those are far ahead than some of the players who are playing in the national side . He is superb under under pressure situations see the cricinfo profile info which confirms that my guess is that most of the senior players were afraid that they might loose stature by giving chances to this guy & other issues
I’m saying give him a chance for the upcoming series & if he performs give the world cup after that dropping him is OK because younger guys need to be groomed, if we are to win the World cup we should try this option in the upcoming series if he fails that is curtains for him.

      • Kevin

Guys..!! This is the problem with most of you cricket lovers!! You all tend to compare two players in the team. It doesn’t make sense to compare one batsman’s failure with another one’s. If someone doesn’t perform well continuously and doesn’t contribute to the team’s performance, then we all need to criticize the player and make the selectors to give a chance to another player. Only then the cricket would become a real professional game.
Look, if you don’t perform at office or don’t deliver results continuously, would you be able to retain your job? Its a simple no. So if you want to keep your job, what would you do? That is a true professional environment. So, if we want to see a professional cricket team like Australia, we need to make the players to be more and more committed to the game. If a player has talent but lack in technique, such players need to put a lot of extra efforts to learn the correct techniques.
We all know, in Sri Lanka, there is huge talent pool. But, talent itself of not enough these days..! A player needs to put a lot of efforts and build the correct technique. Only then, we would be able to see batting legends from Sri Lanka. How did Murali become a legend? Was it only talent? NO!!!! Murali is a player who has put his heart and soul into cricket to find new techniques, analyze his opponents and pitch conditions…etc. I doubt if we can see such deep commitment from the new players who are entering in to the national side…!! Food for thought, guys..!!

        • Pubudu

I agree with you. Young guys are not committed these days that’s very sad to see these days. What you are saying is correct a true professional should perform consistently to be in the team but is it happening? for example Sanath Jayasuriya he is a legend no doubt but he’s time is over but still he keeps popping out to play for the national side How? because of influence ! not due to being consistent or professional?
We are talking about the Cricket National side who are representing the country which is far critical than the office as lot are at stake, simple mistake would cost an international match.
As you are talking about office, if a employee is not performing a replacement will be sought and an interview will be given and a probation period will be given to the new employee ?
In the case of cricket did Jeewantha get an interview or probation period ? Nothing !! He’s time is about to be finished. My view is to try this option for the sake of world cup then think of grooming a young guy for that position.

          • chanaka

guys ur talking about young talent…and blame to jeevantha kulatunga… this is like joke…..what did thissara perera , udawatte , mubarak do this clt20… they failed ..even kulatunga got a half century , what did mahela do.???/ as a proffesional ..i totaly agree with pubudu…. we cann’t nw trust our young talent bec we have only 8 old before wc 2011 so now want a short term plan….accoroding to short term plan….we need guyz like chandimal , vaas , jeewantha kulatunga….not for longterm

      • chanaka

bec.. if dilly or tharanga fails we don’t have an extra openner besides kulatunga (udawatte out of form…..) mahela not suit for openning plase
