Cricket balls distributed to schools in Jaffna

Eleven Schools involved in the under 19 Schools season in Jaffna were recipients of Cricket balls distributed by Sri Lanka cricket in their objective of supporting and encouraging  all schools in the Island . Chairman D. S. de Silva also visited four venues, with the view of developing a district ground in which all institutions have an equal opportunity to practice and play matches, including their traditional big games.

The distribution center in Jaffna was St Patrick’s college and all recipients were in attendance to receive the balls. Chairman Sri Lanka cricket was accompanied by M.T.A.Rauf secretary of Sri Lanka schools cricket association, while Rev Fr Jero Selvanayagam principal of St Patrick’s and Mr. Susitharan, secretary of Jaffna district cricket association also officiated at the function. 521 Schools in 9 provinces have been distributed with cricket balls for the ongoing current season.

    It’s good to see SLC trying to improve our island cricket, the tournaments in North & East,will produce some outstanding cricketers, especially in Trincomalee young bloods are coming out with good performance, SLC visit to Trincomalee is required, example a young blood who won the man of the series in Trincomalee, his address is here just get him down to Colombo and watch him.

    It is very interesting to note that SLC is working hard to improve the game at the grass root level up North. I’m of the view that very soon we will produce strong fast bowlers from up North. The unification of cricket, North and East with the rest of the country will produce results in the few years to come.
