Chamara Silva is only 30 years of age, whereas Thilan, Mahela are 33 years old. Katich was dropped for 2 years and came back at 32 and in last test match was top scorer in both innings. Even Hayden came back at 31 years and so did Lehmann. More than any of these players, Chamara Silva is ypounger and his previuos failures can be put down to his recklessness and impatience. Mark him, if given a chance will be a mature sober player who is a pocket dynemite and was dubbed an Aravinda initially, He is a top class fielder and a fair leggie. He can be both a test and ODI player if given a continued run having been discovered in the doldrums by Moody after being dropped. This is his 2nd comeback.

Why dont u al consider abt sachitra senanayaka, shanuka disanayaka and Ashan priyanjan. These players perfom wel in the club matches.

  • kalpa

ohhh!age dznt matter if he plays wel selectors shld add him n to the team.cz chamara silva is the higest run getter in the aus tour f sl ‘a’ team.so he deserve a place n national side.last match he he scored a hundred.so wt do u expect from a batsmen more than that.specialy a century n aus soil.at least add chamara silva for the tri nation.

  • Mr. Cricket

    Premasiri,

Old is not the word when they are in form… Both Chamara Silva and Jeevan Mendis played well in Australian tour.. Im sorry if you haven’t watched the matches… The youngsters that you have mentioned should first grow up in the game of cricket and mature in it… Just because cricketers such as Chamara Silva who YOU call old, doest mean that they will not get a chance… First watch some matches and grow up Premasiri!!!

  • Premasiri

Mr Cricket!Chamara Silva is too old to be considered as a future player because he too is in the same age group of Mahela, Sangakkara, Dilshan & Thilan. If you had mention the names like Khausal Silva 1st Class Batting Ave 44, Chanidmal 1st Class Batting Ave 49,Angelo Perera 1stClBaAv 45, Dimuth Karunarathna 1stClBaAv 44, Romesh Bhugddhika, Bhanuka Rajapaksha or Kithruwan Vithanage for that matter then sometimes selectors may have considered your request. After all he has been given numerous opportunities by the previous selection panel. The truth is, both Chamaras are very inconsistent as International players. However Sangakkara & Mahela favors this type of harmless players because there is no big threat for their permanent places in the National side from this kind of ordinary batsmen.

  • Mr. Cricket

    Dear Mr De Silva,

Why haven’t you added Chamara Silva and Jeevan Mendis atleast to the 3 day game??? They are the future of our team??

Have you forgotten that we have a talented allrounder who showed his colours in the Zimbabwe tour and the Australian tour?? Aren’t you going to give Jeevan another chance to show promise in the international arena??

It would be nice to see Jeevan, Thissara and Chamara Silva in the tri nation against India and New Zealand…

    Thanks

  • dinusha roshan

selecters should be considered bastman like jeevantha kulatunga for onedayers…. bec.. srilanka don’t have an extra openning batsman besides tharanga and dilshan… so must need to give some expeirence for kulatunga international levals…… if selecters won’t do it our team will be struggled when tharanga or dilshan fail to get runs in worldcup or before the worldcup … so selecters should set an extra opener … thirimanne not suit for 50 overs….. so hitter like kulatunga suit for that job…

  • subashkumarage

Pls, chaminda Vass shoud include our national team now.

  • Janaka susantha

    Mr.Aravinda,

    Where is chaminda Vass?

  • CKfromBrisbane

This is pretty ok team for me. Thisara Perera is becoming a young all-rounder and he really needs to be considered. Pace bowling attack is not that much great. Dilhara is not up to the standard against the better teams like India or Australia. Dinesh Chandimal should have more opportunities to get the confidence in the international cricket.
