I think the selectors are looking at Kandamby and Samaraweera to play the role that Mahanama and Thilakaratne played in the 1996 world cup. Having said that I wouldn’t play both of them in the same side.

Hey I hope new selector’s well select janaka gunarathne in to srilanka A or some squad and get some thing from him to the SLC !! i know he is a good player and he will do well!!!

I would like to pay selection commitees’ attention to star class bowler and my favorite cricketer of LAKSHITHA and got to know that he is being as stand by player for Australian tour. I feel he deserve a permanent place for the team for Australian tour since he is the highest wicket taker of Provincial Matches (Four Day Matches) and he proved his bowling talants to Sri Lankan Spectators during those matches. I believe the cricket authorities should give a chance to this kind of young and talanted cricketers and they can get experiance out of that and they can sharpen their skills. I suggest to give a chance to LAKSHITHA purely based on his bowling performance and we can save a talented bowler for Sri Lankan cricket future.

Give Janaka Gunaratne a Chance..he deserve it. he performed well in the domestic inter provincial tournament and even won the best bowler T20 championship. the players who have performed are in the standby list and the plyaers whos names are never heard of are in the team… what a Mystery..the selection was done purely on Performace or not??????????

It is with utter regret to see that this time too the team has been selected poorly and the number players who have performed well in the domestic inter provincial tournament have not been listed on this team.
especially Janaka Gunaratne was not listed on the team despite of his tremendous performances in the domestic inter provincial championships both T20/ODI/4Day. he even won the best bowler of the T20 tournament and almost all the Sri Lankan National Team members took part in this tournament, for the performances he made, he even not called for any squad. he played well in the 4Day and ODI with good performances both with BAT & Ball even he has scored Centuries in some matches, but not even a pat on the back. at last he was called to sri lanka A practices i believe this act is just to cover-up the media.
at this point in time he was planing to go to UK for club matches where he can earn some money for his living and he has canceled this hoping that at least this time the officials form the cricket board will look in to him, but at the end he was ruled out of the squad despite of the century (130) he scored at the last 4Day match which took them to the FINALS of the 4Day inter Provincial Finals.
as the Spectators and the cricket enthusiasts we are so disappointed about this decision and especially Janaka Gunaratne is deserved a chance in the Sri Lankan A team not because of anything but because of his brilliant performances during the domestic inter provincial tournament.. and we hope that even at the eleventh hour that Janaka Gunaratne will be called to take part in the Sri Lankan A team tour to Australia which will do a great good for both Sri Lanka and Janaka Gunaratne him self.
