Sri Lanka Cricket wins court case against Chilaw CC

“A bench comprising Justice L T D Dehideniya and K K S G F Perera, dismissed the application filed by Chilaw Cricket Club in the Provincial High Court of  Western Province (Civil Appellate) against Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) and also awarded Rs. 10,000/- as costs in favour of SLC.  Chilaw CC had filed this application against the order of the Learned District Judge of Colombo and obtained ex parte stay order restraining SLC from taking any steps to conduct the Grand Final of the all island Division III Cricket Tournament 2008/2009. However the court determined that Chilaw CC has not come before court with clean hands and also having due regard to the concept of balance of convenience the court fines no reason to intervene with the order of the learned District Judge. Hence court refuse to grant leave to appeal and dismiss the application with cost.

Mr. Dinal Philips – President’s Counsel with Mr. Ranil Premathilaka, Anslem Kaluarachchi – Attorneys at Law instructed by Ms. Kamanie Balachandra appeared on behalf of Sri Lanka Cricket. Mr. M U M Ali Sabry – Attorney at Law appeared for Chilaw CC. “
