The elite Bank of Ceylon Inter- provincial tournament gets underway tomorrow with MAS Kandurata captained by national skipper Kumar Sangakkara taking on Basnahira North captained by Thilina Kandamby.
Seventy six contracted players will be seen in pursuit in this year’s limited over Bank of Ceylon Inter – Provincial championship. MAS Kandurata have an all round side with the inform Sangakkara back on home soil after a tedious tour of India and Bangladesh. Sangakkara is in great batting form. His team comprises of the well rested world’s best off spinner Muttia Muralitheran as his deputy.
The hill capitol team has an excellent spin attack with Suraj Randiv bowling alongside the genius himself. MAS Kandurata have two good all rounder’s namely Kaushal Weeraratne and Chinthaka Jayasinghe. Their batting will revolve around Sangakkara, Chamara Kapugedera, Thilan Samaraweera ,Kanchana Gunawardena, Jeevan Mendis and Tharanga Paranavithana.
Thilina Thushara is expected to share the new ball with Kaushal Weeraratne.
Basnahira North captained by Thilina Kandamby has some exciting players. Angelo Mathews is back from an injury and raring to go. Chaminda Vass will want to remind the selectors that he is still in the equation. The south paw will share the new ball with Nuwan Kulasekera.
Kandamby has at his disposal, top rated players in the caliber of Gayan Wijeykoon, Kaushal Silva the wicket keeper batsman, Muthumudalige Pushpakumara a utility all rounder with Dhammika Prasad a very useful fast bowler who is also capable of scoring quick runs
Basnahira North will miss the services of Dilshan Munaweera and Angelo Perera for tomorrow’s game since they are in Bangladesh for SAG T20.
