Chandimal suspended for one match, Malinga to lead

Sri Lanka T20 Captain Dinesh Chandimal has been suspended by the Match Referee for slow over rate for one match. He had a suspended sentence active for 12 months and yesterday’s delay brought about the penalty, plus a fine of 20% match fee.The Sri Lanka team is fined 10% of their match fee.

David Boon of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees imposed the fines after the side, led by Dinesh, was ruled to be one over short of its target when time allowances were taken into consideration.

In accordance with the regulations of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel governing minor over-rate offences, players are fined 10 per cent of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time, with the captain fined double that amount.

Lasith Malinga will Captain the next match against New Zealand on Monday the 31st of March 2014.

Let malinga leads the team, no issue for all players including senior players like Sanga,Mahela & Dilshan. Srilanka should do some changes in the squad, Herath should be given chance in this crucial match. Still there is no clues why they included Ajanta mendis in match against England (Please note mendis was punished by South Africa and Netherland batsmen in the earlier matches). This is a must win game for srilanka. I hope srilanka will get a semifinal berth.
    Good Luck to srilanka

Lasith Malinga is only man in control in balling. so, better let him to complete his job well on the next match. he can be a captain but this not a good situation to put him under pressure as a captain. put the Mathews as a captain is ideal.
