Colombo beat Kandy by 92, Galle beat Dambulla by 15 runs

SUPER FOUR PROVINCIAL ONE-DAY TOURNAMENT

Lahiru Thirimanne bludgeoned an unbeaten 90 off 69 balls inclusive of 6 sixes and 3 boundaries sharing in a 95-run alliance for the fourth wicket with Shehan Jayasuriya who struck 81 off 78 balls containing 5 boundaries and 3 sixes to guide Colombo to a 92-run win over Kandy in a Super Four Provincial Tournament One-Day match played at the R. Premadasa Stadium yesterday. Chamara Silva also contributed 61 off 53 with 5 boundaries and Kamindu Mendis 47 off 65 with 4 boundaries. Kandy were dismissed for 217 in 48.3 overs with Hasaranga de Silva claiming 4 for 43 and Tissara Perera 2 for 25. Kandy’s top scorer was Dhanushka Gunathilaka with 59 off 76 balls containing 7 boundaries.

Meanwhile, Skipper Upul Tharanga led the way with a top score of 57 off 26 balls hitting 7 boundaries and 4 sixes as Galle beat Dambulla by a comprehensive 7 wickets making 218 for 3 chasing a revised target of 204 in 37.3 overs on the D/L method in a rain affected match at the P. Saravanamuththu Stadium. Sachithra Senanayake top scored for Dambulla with 65 off 60 balls inclusive of 3 boundaries and 4 sixes. Malinda Pushpakumara took 3 for 27 and Dasun Shanaka 3 for 63 for Galle.
