De Soysa Stadium at Moratuwa to host an international match after a lapse of 17 years
Sri Lanka cricket will host an international match after a lapse of 17 years at the Moratuwa Stadium on the 5th of December this year. The under 19 Tri nation one day series between Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh is scheduled to get underway on 29th November with the first encounter scheduled to be Played at the newly constructed stadium at pallekela in Kandy.
Chairman Sri Lanka cricket Mr. D.S.De Silva and his committee have decided to bring back international cricket to Moratuwa. The city of Moratuwa is home for many cricketers who have represented Sri Lanka. Moratuwa draws big crowds in any form of cricket, hence the under 19 game between Sri Lanka and Pakistan will revive international cricket at Moratuwa.
Sri Lanka under 19 squad is scheduled to play the world cup in New Zealand in January Next year. The young hopefuls have a busy schedule ahead of them, very similar to that of the national team who are currently on tour to India. The tri nation under 19 series has been spread to rural districts as per the directive of chairman D.S.De Silva, and his committee who insist that cricket must reach to every nook and corner In the Island. The current committee has done well to complete the work at pallekela, a venue that had been put on hold for more than three years.
