I feel vindicated and most of all relived. All the right moves have been made. Mahela should be the captain. Ford has the credentials. But it should not stop there. Get rid of support staff. Batting, Fielding & Bowling coaches all have to go. And more…Physio should go as well…there is so many injuries…what is he doing? Get Alex Conturi back. He will come. He was married to a Srilankan anyway.
I Thank you Honorable Sports minister.

I think it’s about time they start blooding Youngsters. If you have watched Our team in action in both forms except for the 2nd Test against SA, we can’t go any lower than this? I am sure the youngsters will give a fair crack because they want to in the side. and most importantly they wiilhave the ENERGY & HUNGER…unlike some Dead Wood who have been selected!! We can’t go any lower than what we are now…Surely????

I will go even further..the changes should start with our support staff(Bowling coach, Batting and Fielding coach) & Selectors (Chairman in Particular) and wholesale changes need to be made…and made now!!!!! I am still Befuddled…why on earth we got rid of Hathurasinghe whom I thought did a great job as a Batting Coach?

Part of our problem is having a Brainless as a Chairman of Selector. He should find a job in the media..because he is VERY GOOD IN LIP SERVICE!!! I know our Board is broke..but they should employ a PSYCHIC as part of the Administration…Because I have NFI..about his recent selection, which is quite contrary to his media interview…at least the PSYCIC could tell us the reason behind his recent selection???????

I totally agree with RANJITH.A . There are better spinners and Batsman in Our Local scene.

I hope people who in a position to do something ..IS READING THESE EMAILS…PLEASE DON”T RUIN OUR CRICKET…..It is so Depressing watching Our side go down SERIES AFTER SERIES!!!!!!

this the chance to maharoff come back to the srilanka team get srilanka captain.

  • Ranjith A

Some are canvassing strongly for Kapugedara. Please note there are much better younger talent in Sri Lanka than these two Chamaras. If one can compare First Class Batting averages of these two influential players with players of the Caliber of Angelo Mathews, Dimuth , Thirimanne, Chandimal, Angelo Perera, Bhanuka you guys must be ashamed of yourself.
Also I would like to mention the same thing to the one who tried to promote some players with their performances at Hong Kong sixes. Do their first class averages justify their performances at a six aside tournament? Selectors of last 2 decades should explain why Herath and Dilruwan have been included in every Touring Side Either 1sT XI or 2nd Xi Teams, with performances below table. Being related to a selector or any other reason cannot be an excuse for their inclusion. Selections have to be made only on consistency and performance basis but definitely not on favouritism. Eg: look at the averages below (Statistics from ESPN Cricinfo as at 30 Dec 2011). These Herath and Dilruwan are at the bottom of the table –
Name Born Mat Balls Runs Wkts Ave Econ SR
    Seekkuge Prasanna 27-Jun-85 57 10567 5594 279 20.05 3.17 37.8

    • Rasika

Simple logic about herath and dilruwan story.. As you have mentioned both of them have been included in all fist XI and A team. so probably all good batsman are also included. Then third level players are playing first class domestic cricket in back home like these days. so then no reason why others can’t improve their statistics. Statistics doesn’t say the real story. that’s why there is a selection committee. unfortunately currently selection committee is dumb headers.

  • GANLATH

ITS TIME TO NURTURE YOUNG PLAYERS FOR THE NATIONAL SIDE , WHY NOT INCLUDE SOME YOUNG PLAYERS FROM LAST YEARS U-19 TEAM WHICH PERFORMED EXCEPTIONALY WELL, SUCH AS CHARITH JAYAMPATHI, CHATHURA PERIS, AKSHU FERNANDO, , SELECTORS NEEDS TO BE MORE SENSIBLE IN SELECTING SQUADS FOR THE FUTURE, PLS DON’T RUIN CRICKET IN THIS COUNTRY .

  • Mr. Samson

when u go through the squad i can see some of the players are over thirties, so y cant u include young players like Kapugedara, Dilshan Munaweera,Dilruwan Perera. when I watch Hong Kong sixes i saw dilshan and Kapu batted well in that tournament even in Mercantile Tournament dilshan scored 5 fifties and 129 n.o against HNB .this is how u ll selecting players, dont look only trials matches, go through the hole year they faced each and every matches.this is (disgraced )

  • prasad

where is kapugedara? all of you ignore him.he is well played at domestic season.is this politic?

    • Raj

He has been given enough chances than he really deserved and one can find 3 dozens of better batsmen than him in the Domestic scene. Think of the Country’s interest 1st rather than catering for individuals.

    • Ranjith A

No he played because of politics. What are you talking about? You all keep on pushing these two Chamaras, who got places in SL side on and off over looking much better younger players, totally because of influence. Compare FIRST CLASS BATTING averages of young players like Angelo Mathews, Dimuth , Thirimanne, Chandimal, Angelo Perera, Bhanuka with Chamara Kapugedara and Chamara Silva

  • dinith

whats the point of selecting players like sajeewa weerakoon, tharanga lakshitha, thilan thushara, malintha wrnapura for “A” side. All these are over thirties.

Kapugedara should have been considered since he is quite young compared to some of the players in the squad. He will perform much better if he bats in top of the batting order.

  • supun

its ok every time you all give chances to club favorites,is this players scored fifties in selection matche?.not all some are only. for earlier England tour players who are scored over fifty not selected , I think this should be a different way of seleting players (Coach favourites} usless coach and the selectors

  • sk

very bad selectiom.ITS SHOULD BE YOUNGURS. MAROOF. THILANA THUSHARA, MILINDA WARANPURA. MAHELA UDWATTHA. MALINGA BANDARA LIKE PLAYERS USELESS. SHOULD BE INLUDED DILSHAN MUNAWEERA. LIKE
