Sri Lanka was bowled out for 309 this morning. India wins the 3rd and the final test by an innings and 24 runs with 2 1/2 sessions still remaining. Whilst not taking anything away from the Indian’s for a very professional performance ,Sri Lanka will count them selves very unlucky mainly due appalling umpire errors.
Sangagkara managed to add only 4 runs to his overnight score of 133 when Zaheer han, got him to nick one to the safe gloves of Kumar’s counter part MS Dhoni. The rest of the tail Enders could not cope with both pace and spin from Zaheer Khan and Harbajan Singh. Zaheer accounted for 3 scalps this morning with Harbajan picking the wicket of Muralitheran.
Sri Lanka will be disappointed with their performance in losing the three matches test series by 2 nil. The visitors will obviously think about their game plane in the future. Consistency by the top order is of paramount importance.Mahela and Thilan will be disappointed with their performance in this test.
Shewag was adjudicated as man of the match for his 293; he also won the man of the series award for scoring 451 runs in 3 tests.
It was a nice gesture by the Mumbhai cricket association, in felicitating Muttia Muralitheran , I’m sure they will all breath a sigh of relief that Murali will not torment the Indian’s any more. Thank you Murali for the memories, we all know this test series was not very fruitful to you by your standards, nevertheless you will always remain as one of the greatest off spinners of all time.
Well played India, bad luck Sri Lanka ,we hope the ICC will at least take the URS into consideration after they watch the replays of the appalling decisions both Nigel Long and Darrel Harper accounted for especially in this test
