India make Highest ever Test Score with Dhoni Scoring 100

By Brian Thomas

India declared their innings on 726 runs for 9 wickets with skipper MS Dhoni blasting an unbeaten century with 6 big sixes and 3 fours. India’s strong batting line up proved too strong for Sri Lanka’s bowling attack, who in fairness suffered the wrath of some very poor umpire decisions.

With 7 top order batsman dismissed by tea ,Ms Dhoni with limited contribution from his tail ender’s, built his innings from scratch to score a brilliant century. Dhoni was unbeaten on 21 at the tea break with only Zaheer Khan, Sreesanth and Ojah left to bat.

The home team made 97 runs in the final session of which Dhoni accounted for 79 runs which is a fantastic contribution.  The skippers determined contribution helped India to take the lead well past the anticipated 300 run Mark.

India now has a lead of 322 runs. For Sri Lanka it’s six sessions of hard work on a pitch that’s bound to help the spinners especially on day five. Sangagkara and company will have to come up with a determined effort to save the test. The medicine recommended by the doctor is determination, discipline, application and temperament to a great extent by all top order batsmen. Sri Lanka needs luck and also a few decisions going their way to save the test.
