Jayawardena to be sent as replacement

Sri Lanka’s star batsman Mahela Jayawardena and 20 year old right handed batsman Dinesh Chandimal are set to be sent to Bangladesh for the IDEA cup triangular tournament as cover for injured Tillekeratne Dilshan and Chamara Silva.

Jayawardena’s inclusion will be subjected to a fitness test as he originally missed the tour due to an injury. Chandimal, who represents NCC has an impressive 1st class average of 52.00 and is known for his aggressive style of play. He also keeps wickets regularly for his club NCC. Chandimal’s inclusion will  depend upon the medical report of Dilshan, which will determine whether he can play any further part in the tournament.

The two players are expected to join the National squad tomorrow morning subjected to fitness and Sports Ministry ratification. However, Dilshan’s recovery period will only be assessed once medical reports are obtained during mid day today.

    I think mahela is good as a opening batsman.see he has made centuries two times when he played as a opening batsman in twice.

    It looks there are lot of Pandiths who would like to make a petty comment on the one of the disciplined batsmen in Mahela Jayawardena. If you want to be “patriotic” you got to adore, protect and develop assets like this. It takes so many painful years to make sportsman like this. Beleive it or not. True there are youngsters but have they proved above and beyond these guys?

    Well done Mahela! Let the bat do the talking. You can make them beggars easily

    i think we should give this chance to the youngster dinesh chandimal to showcase his talents as mahela is not in good touch these days.we should give mahela some rest and let him to get to his foam again..and india or bangladesh have not seen dinesh yet it will be a good thing to expose him at international level and surprise other 2 teams as thissara perera did.

    mahela is good for test matches not for one days(in these days) give a chance to all rounder like thisara perera.see what he done.pushpakumara is all rounder then who is the replacement for him? should be all rounder.srilanka cricket need new faces.youngsters.give a chance to them.they will show what they can…cheers……
