Left handed batsman Jeewan Mendis is set to make his ODI debut against Zimbabwe in today’s crucial match in the tri series to be played in Bulawayo.
Mendis is set to replace Angelo Mathews, who has been rested due to a leg injury.
Speaking to srilankacricket.lk, Sri Lankan team Manager Anura Tennakoon predicted rain to play a major part in today’s game. It is reported that rains are experienced in Bulawayo just prior to the commencement of the game.
India beat Sri Lanka in the previous game by 7 wickets in the ongoing Triangular ODI series.

I agree with Kalpa that u have to give ODI bats 3 successive games and Chamara is coming back after a long time and he is a first class fielder.He is also a power hitter. If he fails, he shud not play for another 1 year or so. Kapu can be laid off for 2 games as he had a run. Thilan is slow and not a power hitter.
As forsomeone else comment that Sanga is scared. he is scoring and not too old. Even Dilshan did not wilfully not selet Chandimal.Chandimal and Tirimanne are talent.Newcomers cannot be rushed at start o series. He and Lahiru will get a game sooner or later i feel.This is the procedure even in other countries but tthey will be dropped when they are 35.

when sanga holding the caption C, he afraid to give a chance to chandimal because if chandimal played well he will apponted as a wicket keeper.so sanga will drop from team if he loss as a batsman.
when Dilshan holding the caption C, he’s afraid to give a chance to chandimal, because chandimal is a good opener.if chandimal played well as a opener he will appointed as regular opener with mahela.so dilshan also don’t like to give a chance to him…

no need to drop chamara stl he plays only a single game hw cn u say he’s a poor batsmen?thilan must sit on the bench he cant play odi’s & he’s a slow mover on the field. & kapugedara also needs to stay a game o 2 on the bench.
