Mahela Jayawardene to retire from Test Cricket

Sri Lanka Cricket wishes to announce that Mahela Jayawardene has tendered his resignation from Test cricket.

Addressing a letter to the Chief Executive Officer of SLC Mr. Ashley De Silva, Mahela Jayawardene has stated that he would like to retire from Test cricket after the forthcoming Test series against South Africa and Pakistan. Mahela Jayawardene has stated that    ” It was not an easy decision to make given that it has been a great privilege and honour representing my country during the past 18 years, but I believe this is the right time”.

The former Captain of Sri Lanka reiterated that he is fully committed to playing ODI cricket for Sri Lanka.

    mayya oyage favourite ma site eka test ne,u can play several of years yet.we wanna c u couple of years with sl test cricket.when u n kmar go no body to replace until 2 3 years.we will fail to down.i never watch a test after ur resignation pls think a twice about ur resignation. u r impeccable…love u soooo much our hero.
