Mystery spinner Ajantha Mendis and Fast bowler Nuwan Pradeep Fernando have been included in the 16 man squad named to take on India in the 2nd Test match scheduled to begin at SSC Grounds in Colombo on Monday.
Ajantha Mendis replaces Muttiah Muralidaran who retired from Test Cricket last Thursday. Nuwan Pradeep, who is rated as one of the fastest bowlers in the country is drafted in as cover for injured Lasith Malinga. Another remarkable move made by the selectors have been the appointment of Mahela Jayawardena to the position of Vice Captaincy, which was left vacant by the retirement of Muralidaran.

When they are giving him a chance he should bat @ no 4 or 5

Dilhara prenando,and ajanthe mendis not good bolers,thay was good but not now.we need win the game,why don’t choose nuwan kulesekera,he is one of good booler and feelder.I don’t have any co operation with pleyers thi is my idea.you know beter than me.thank you.

I think they should give a chance to Nuwan Pradeep. He shouldn’t be worse than Welagedara or Prasad. If Welagedara can get a spot in SL team why Nuwan Pradeep can’t?

good, but why not thilan thushara ? i thought not having malinga is a huge blow. selectors picked Nuwan Pradeep. but is he going to play a single match ? because we just lost Murali and Malinga is also not playing, so where is that much needed experience in the bowling attack. i thought Nuwan should play , his pace will be fantastic . with him on the other end you need a experience bowler like Dilhara . all the very best SRILANKA,

selecters should protect vital players like malinga , mathews till the worldcup bec injuries can be happened to them easilly due to their playing roles .. so selecters should give them a rest ..they not need to play test till worldcup… and selecters shoud keep good replacements for malinga , murali , mahela ,tharanga and dilshan before the wc 2011 ….srilanka still sruggling to keep two good openning replacement for tharanga and dilshan ….. i think udawatte and kulatunga should be the replacement for our current openners…. so selecters will have to give some chances to kulatunga and udawatte in international leval or A side before the wc ..

Sri Lanka needs 5 genuine bowlers but they don’t want 2 wicket keepers. If Sangakkara don’t want to keep, replace him & Prasanna with a talented young wicketkeeper batsman like KhaushalyaS or Chandimal who are so solid in defence & attack. We badly need another genuine bowler. Mathews’ batting is more precious than his bowling therefore he shouldn’t be considered as a bowler for Test Matches, if not same thing may happen to him as well & A tall fast bowler like Dilhara is a must (Though such bowlers are so scares in the country due to unwanted encouragement given to Rugby by the principals of all leading schools & some media personnel for the last 25 years) who can extract bounce off a good length. We saw, many batsmen were all at sea against that type of bowling by Sharma in the 1st Test when the new ball was in operation.
