A meeting by the members of The Central Organizing Committee of ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, was held on the 2nd April at the Taj Samudra , chaired by ICC Vice President Sharad Pawar with CEO of ICC Haroon Logart and Tournament Director Professor Ratnakar Shetty in attendance. Mr Sharad Pawar at a press briefing informed the media that he was pleased with the progress of the new grounds in Colombo, Pallekelle and Hambantota.
The press briefing was attended by over seventy five journalists from the print and electronic media both local and International. The head table comprised of ICC Vice President Sharad Pawar , Haroon Logart CEO ICC, Professor Ratnakar Shetty Tournament Director COC and Suraj Dandeniya Tournament Director World cup Secretariat Sri Lanka.
Tournament Director of the COC Professor Ratnakar Shetty stated that Pakistan would play all their matches here in Sri Lanka and he was very pleased with the arrangements and the progress made by World Cup secretariat of Sri Lanka, headed by Tournament Director Suraj Dandeniya.
CEO of ICC Mr. Haroon Logart thanked Sri Lanka Cricket for their hospitality in arranging the COC meeting and went on to state that many issues were discussed during the one hour session.
Mr. Sharad Pawar stated that the host venues in India Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will attract thousands of spectators from around the world, and the new venues constructed in all three countries will produce a real legacy for cricket in South Asia.
Mr. Pawar also stated that ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 will be an event to remember since Sri Lanka like India and Bangladesh is known for the warmth and hospitality shown to visitors from around the world.
The COC had also discussed a request to issue multiple entry visas to India from the Indian government, for supporters holding match tickets.
