Sri Lanka Under 19 and Pakistan Under 19 commenced their 5 match Youth ODI series today at MRICS, Hambantota.
The visiting Pakistan U19 team was given a warm welcome by Sri Lanka Cricket when the team arrived at the MRICS, Hambantota to play the 01st Youth ODI game.
Honorable Thilanga Sumathipala, Immediate Past President of the SLC graced the opening ceremony of the cricket series, as the Chief Guest which took place this morning. He used the occasion to thank the players of the Pakistan’s U19 team and the Pakistan Cricket Board for having the confidence to tour Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka won the 01st game by 28 runs thus taking a 1 – nil lead in the five match series. Sri Lanka U19, who batted first after winning the toss scored 234 runs for the loss of 09 wickets. Kamil Mishara top scored with a knock of 65 runs made from 95 balls and N. D. Paranavithana scored 54 runs from 93 balls.
In reply, Pakistan U19 only managed to score 208 runs in 47.3 overs. For Pakistan Haider Ali scored 51 runs from 65 balls. In bowling for Sri Lanka D.S. Tillakaratne captured 3 wickets by conceding 43 runs in his 10 overs. N.D. Paranavithana captured 2 wickets conceding 31 runs from 7.3 overs.
