Pakistan Under-19 beat Sri Lanka Under-19 by 5 wickets with 24 balls to spare in the third Youth ODI at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium, Sooriyawewa, Hambantota on Friday. Pakistan replied with 184 for 5 off 46 overs. With this win Pakistan took a 2-1 lead in the 5-match series.
Batting first Sri Lanka Under-19 totaled 183 in 48.3 overs with K. Mishra top scoring with 73 off 117 balls inclusive of 5 boundaries. Next best contributions were by Sonal Dinusha who made 32 off 64 hitting 2 boundaries while Avishka Tharindu made 26 off 4
For Pakistan, Akhtar Shah returned splendid figures of 4 for 19 in 9.3 overs while Junaid Khan claimed 2 for 38 in his 10 overs.
Pakistan’s run chase suffered an early setback when pace bowler Dilshan Madushanka sent back openers Sam Ayub for 8 and Haider Ali for 9, but Rohail Nazir rose to the occasion stroking 76 off 117 balls inclusive of 6 boundaries to put his side on course to victory. He was supported by Oasim Akram who made 26 off 44 with a solitary boundary and Haris Khan 25 off 37 with 2 boundaries. Madushanka finished with figures of 2 for 43 while Rohan Sanjaya took 2 for 46 for the host team.
