Pushpakumara to return home

Off spinning allrounder Muthumudalige Pushpakumara will return home tomorrow along with middle order batsman Chamara Silva following an injury he sustained during the ODI encounter with India yesterday.

According to available information Pushpakumara has suffered a shoulder muscle tear and is reccommended to be rested for the remainder of the series.

Mahela Jayawardena, Mahela Udawatte and Dinesh Chandimal have arrived today and joined the squad as replacements for the injured Silva, Pushpakumara and Dilshan. However, Dilshan is expected to feature at any stage during the tournament.

Its very nice to see that Dinesh Chandimal has been selected at least to play rather tour for the rest of the tournament.I believe the selectors may give him a opportunity to show his talents. Its a gr8 opportunity for the youngster and i wish him success. Timely decision to include Udawathta is not a bad decision to replace Dilshan o may b Pushpakumara.

It is a real sad begining to a cricket career,i hope Asantha Demel and his troops want forget pushpakumara so quickly.im very much impressed with the way that the selecters are going by with the selections so far, introduction of thirimanne, thisera perera ,Dinesh chandimal is a good sign for the young talents, but still im not sure y the selectors havent given a chance to the current bloomfield opener Dilshan Munaweera.and also i saw that he’s been selected to tour bangladesh with the u 21 sri lanka side for the south asian games.its the perfect format for munaweera so i wish him all the very best. Its a real treat to watch u play .

It is sad that a talented youngster has been sidelined due to injury. What a (sad) career he has had. He was spotted by Sidath Wetthimuny, the great. He toured pakistan at a young age and did not play a game on the tour. Then after 8 years he makes his debut in a match that was abandoned due to a dangerous wicket. He still bats and remains unbeaten with 7 runs. Then he plays his second match and bowls 5 overs for 21 runs without taking a wicket, in which the opposing team makes 273 runs. Not bad you would say. Then he plays the 3rd game and before he bowls he is injured. What a sad episode for a player who was the player of the tournament in the last inter-provincial tourney. Here is hoping that the selectors will not forget him in a hurry.
