SLC Conduct Anti-Corruption Educational and Awareness Programs to Players and Officials

The Anti- Corruption Unit  of the Sri Lanka Cricket have been actively engaged in the effort of the Sri Lanka Cricket Board to enlighten the Players and Officials, with the current laws and regulations pertaining to the prevention of Cricket corruption and the precautionary measures that are expected to be adopted by all stake holders of the game of Cricket.

This is in principle with the effort of the Executive Board and the SLC on the whole to maintain a higher standard of the game of Cricket in Sri Lanka.

As much as the Sri Lanka Cricket Board strives to cultivate and maintain, ‘Zero Tolerance’ in cricket corruption, it also envisages disciplining all the levels of the stake holders of the game.

In this aspect, under the guidance of the Secretary / SLC, Mr. Nishantha Ranathunga and initiated by the CEO / SLC, Mr. Ashley de Silva, several Educational and Awareness programmes to the players and Officials of all categories, have already been embarked on.

In this exercise, the Anti-Corruption Unit of the SLC have been entrusted to conduct these Educational and Awareness programme, of which some have already been done to the senior and emerging players of the under 19 and “A” teams, to the members of the Ladies team pool and to officials such as the Umpires, coaches and ground staff. This Educational and Awareness scheme is in continuation.

The ICC concentrate on similar programs to all National Players, before the commencement of any ICC officiated, ‘National Tournaments’ in each country.

Under this scheme, arrangements are also been made to distribute in due course, Anti – Corruption awareness literature to players, clubs and Associations, printed in the three main languages.
