SLC conducts two more ICC Level 01 Coaching Programs

Sri Lanka Cricket conducted another two ICC Level 01 Coaching programs in the recent weeks, with the attendance of 48 School and Club Level Coaches, from several areas of the country.

The first of these two programs was held at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium covering the areas of Matale, Polannaruwa, Anuradhapura and Dambulla and was taken part by 24 Coaches.

The second program was conducted at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium with participants coming from Nuwara-Eliya, Kegalle and Kandy Districts.  This program also had the attendance of 24 Coaches.

The ICC Level 1 Course focuses on imparting coaches with knowledge in the areas of fast bowling and spin bowling, fielding and wicket keeping, knowledge of umpire signals and also warm up and warm down techniques.

In addition, it also educates on the ‘Role of a Coach,’ ‘Code of Behavior for Coaches,’ ‘How to Prepare,’ and also ‘Communication between the Coach and Player’.

The participants will only be given certificates following a 03 month assessment period, where SLC will monitor how the coaches use the learned techniques practically during their coaching sessions.  SLC during this year, so far has conducted four ICC Level 01 Coaching Programs, covering Western, Central, North Central and Eastern Provinces.
