SLC wishes to announce that several Executive members recently visited Monaragala, Nuwara Eliya, Batticalo, Polonnaruwa with a view of providing facilities for the District to enhance the Infrastructure Development in these areas for the betterment of the game.
The Executive Committee Members were Mohan De Silva, Nishantha Ranatunga, Erwin Jayawardene & Dr. Sanjay Sedara. The development program which currently Embraces 21 districts, aims to increase the numbers of cricketers playing the game and increase the participation of teams in the country. In addition to this, SLC aims to enhance the development of cricket at all level.
The following projects were identified in the respective Districts:
Monoragala District – Technical College Grounds- Ground Leveling & Grass Planting, Overhead Water Tank etc…
Colombo DIstrict – 2 Side Wickets & a Bowling Machine to Colombo District Center at BRC
Nuwara Eliya District – Radella Stadium – Center Matting Wicket, 2 Side Wickets & Repairs to Pavillion.
Polonnaruwa District – Cricket Equipment for 6 Schools to be distributed,5 Cricket Coaches for 5 Schools, Infrastructure facilities for 6 Schools in February & March.
Batticaloa District – New Cricket Ground Thiraimadu, 5 School Cricket Coaches for Schools, 6 Selected schools will be provided with Cricket Equipment
Trincomalee District – 6 Schools will be given Cricket Equipment, 5 Coaches for selected 5 Schools.
In addition to the above Sri Lanka Cricket also decided to provide a Grass Cutter to the Radella Cricket Grounds and also provided a Hakka Roller to Trinity College in order to enhance the ground facilities of the School.
Several other Districts will be visited in the near future for identifying Infrastructure Development.
