Sri Lanka Cricket’s, Coaching Department launched its revised Level 1 Coaching Syllabus in March this year. The existing syllabus was subject to many changes & additions over the last 12 month period. Twelve Coaching Courses have been scheduled by the Coaching Department for the year 2010 under the guidance of it’s Coach Education Unit.
The completed revised syllabus was done in conjunction with the ‘International Cricket Council’s approval, the governing body for the sport. In the month of August 2009 Sri Lanka Cricket’s Level 1 Coaching Course was classified & awarded the ICC Endorsement , for which incidentally Sri Lanka became the first Country in the world to receive this status.
With the endorsement of the ICC logo on the Sri Lankan Level 1 Accreditation Certificate, this would receive International recognition for Coaches who possess one.
The course is conducted over a four day period which includes an assessment conducted through communication & demonstration on the final day. All participants will be granted the entire syllabus (Coaching Manual) in printed matter, a high quality product of International standard for their future reference & better understanding, while the Coaching Manual has been published in English all Coaching points included in the manual has been translated into the Sinhala Language.
The syllabus contain areas such as, ROLE OF A COACH, COACHES CODE OF BEHAVIOR, PREPARATION, BATTING, FAST BOWLING, SPIN BOWLING, WICKET KEEPING, FIELDING, NET/GROUP COACHING, UMPIRES SIGNALS, WARM UP/ WARM DOWN.
