why selectors not consider about dilshan munaweera, ashan priyanjana, roshen silva, anjelo perera, bhanuka? This is the best time to give them a chance to play sri lankan team..

  • http://- pandu

everything sl does now is messed up. they will lose the2 matches as no courage shown by team.

i miss sachithra senanayake hope he will be included too.

  • http://tgrtrustforpeople.blogspot.com muhammadh rikzy

but whatever happens these players should be included to the team and get a chance to play in the top 11
    +roshen silva
    +ashen silva
    +angelo perera
i m highly disappointed because amarasinghe amd gayan maneshan not being included for the warm up matches. but the players which i have mentioned is very suitable and deserves a chance to play against engand. but it is all in the hands of the seectors i hope they will include them.

In this Development squad of selectors, there are only 4 players below the age of 25 ys, all others 30 and above. It’s a very funny development squad, isn’t it? By the time they mature most of them would have passed their retiring age.

    • http://- pandu

they might include SJ as well

  • PremasiriS

At a time all other countries bring in their talented young straight from school. Why can’t our selectors do the same? What would be the fate of Tendulkar Kholi if they were SLans with these selectors of last 2 decades? They aren’t matured enough would be their straight forward answer as in the case of Chandimal until he proved his worth.
Bhanuka, Chandimal, Angelo Perera,Khausal Silva, Dimuth, Rosen Silva Ashen Silva, Gayan Manishan,Allrounders Umesh Karunarathna, Sachithra Serasinghe, & bowlers; Senanayake,Malinda Pushpakumara should have been brought into the side long time before, there is no point in bring them in after they lose confidence in themselves . As in the case of Ponting our seniors too should be dropped if they had failed 4-5 innings at a stretch. Then only youngsters can have any hopes for the future, but it is not the case with selectors they always seems to ignore pathetic performances of seniors, they even allow them to carry on with sever injuries. I would like to invite every one interested to compare early careers of these seniors with that of present day youngsters. You may try stats of 1st Class matches in the “cricketarchives.com”. e.g. if you had verified ODI stats (batting) of 3 seniors in their 1st 25 ODI innings they all carry averages around 20 or below, therefore there is nothing special about them but the present day youngsters are way above these babes of selectors.

      Mr Presmasiri,,
sorry but there are certain things i dont agree with you
sorry to bring to your notice but you should get your facts ready when defending players who have been given these matches.

      A. the practice match was played at Khettarama a batting friendly wicket.
      B. Take the current form of Bhanuka Rajapaksa only one hundred havnt even scored 250 runs in the domestic season. Roshen Silva Injured player who cannot through due to a shoulder trouble.
      C. an unbalanced playing XI helped bring out the resutl which was expected a bashin.

Other players you have mentioned do require a chance to prove that they are of international material. and specially when they are performing at peak and brimming with confidence. Sadly I dont think many specially the people concern go over the stats of a domestic season. its just influence and maybe a liking a particular name.

chamara silva is the leading run scorer of premier so he deserved to be there what ever MR.premasiri says.

  • PremasiriS

Selectors have purposely made things difficult for the youngsters by dumping them on a slow bouncy track conducive for bowlers. Facing a tall bowler of Finn’s height 6’8″and accuracy was difficult even for a player of Samarweera’s Class. The two 33 year old 2 very ordinary batters that the selectors have been trying for the last 10 years should have been tried on this wicket without disturbing confidence of these prospective youngsters (Bhanuka, Roshen, Sachithra & Ashen). The best way to boost confidence in these young promising batters would be to try them on Sara Pitch instead, a batting Paradise scheduled for the next match. As proved by Chandimal & Thirimanne the present day batters are 10 times better than that of 10-15 years ago as they are enough matches on TV (Star Cricket, Neo Cricket)for them to watch and learn and fine tune their skills . The most o/s left arm leggie Malinda Pushpakumara( 207, 1st Cla Wikts with an Ave of 20+) & Right-arm leggie Dulanjana Mendis( 150, 1st Cla Wikts with an Ave of 17+) should ’ve b’n included in this match instead of Dilruwan very inconsistent performer.

Very good selection for 2nd XI. Malinda waranpura, Kaushal Lokuarachchi, Malinga Bandara & Sajeewa Weerakoon. Good Luck guys.

  • Ashley

All the best guys,we want the same result like the world cup.
Love to see Dilshan Munaweera in National Colours.

  • deepal

My brothers son is a current player of the sri lankan team and i am really happy to see Dilshan munaweera in the warm up game. i think he is a player like virendrer sehwag. selectors must give him opportunities like this and need to keep faith and promote him for the 20/20 world cup end of this year.
    Thank you .

  • Selector

Shame the two top wicket takers of the domestic first class competition malinda pushpakumara and sohan boralessa are not selected to play any of the games. cheers to the future.

  • http://- pandu

prasanna jayawardana can bat at no. 7 in ODI and keep wickets.
Sanga to focus on batting only to cut down his workload.

  • PremasiriS

It is quite meaningless to bring in those cricketers into the 2XI teams who have failed the exam over and over again the likes of Chamras, Warnapuras. As for Sajeewa & Bandara they are wasted talent who are way above selectors’ babes. Lokuarachchi though he is a brilliant all-rounder his places should have been given to Umesh K’rathna(the Best Sch’lboyCr’ter 2008, with 1st Cla. Bat. Ave 36 & 1st Cla. Bow. Ave 18, Leading Wicket Taker in Pre.Div. 09/10 &U23 Matches 2010&2011),Dulanjana Mendis(the highest wicket taker in Pre Div with1st Cla. Bow. Ave 18 , Malinda P’kumara (He is way above all left arm spinners in town his strike rate speaks volumes of his ability 1st Cla. Bow. Ave 20) Khausal Silva(1st Cla. Bat. Ave 45), Gayan Maneshan (1st Cla. Bat. Ave 56), Kanishka Amerasinhe (1st Cla. Bat. Ave 56)should have been included instead of veterans. The level they are performing shouldn’t be a problem, the consistency is the major factor, S’weera & P’withana who have ended up with Ba Ave of 99 & 75 have been ignored.

Hats off to you Premasiri. I do always read what you write with interest, because unlike some others, you know the stuff and have all the stats to back your case. As always I do agree that Warnapura & Charm Silva are dead wood. I don’t think they deserved their place in the squad, let alone any Srilankan squad. Because they are gone past the use by dates!! I just can’t understand the RATIONALE behind their selection? According to chairman of selectors he wants to give youngsters a fair go and justifies the non selection of Suraj Randiv but on the same token these two dead woods are selected again?

I do understand the reason behind Malinga Bandara & Lokuarchi’s inclusions because POM’s Vulnerability against quality leg spinners. But I can’t still fathom why players like Malinda Puspakumara, Upul Indrasiri have been ignored??

I don’t want the past trend to continue with Players are selected because of Nepotism but not for their talent. I could name more than a dozen cricketers who should have played for Our Nation. We do have such a talented bunch of up and coming Cricketers and don’t want them to fall victim to that unforgivable sin!!
Asantha I am sure you do read these blogs…for heaven sake..we need to teach these POMS a cricket lesson like what Pakistan did…mind you we need to pay back for their dictatorial attitude by refusing to play a meaningful 3 Test series.
I like to see them returning to their POMMY LAND with tail in between the legs and their COCKY EGO shattered..
If you think along those lines…I am sure you will select the best side to just not BEAT THEM..BUT THRASH THEM!!!

      • http://tgrtrustforpeople.blogspot.com muhammadh rikzy jesuli

but u know something is better than nothing but one of the newly.emerged talented player are missing that is gayan maneshan and amarsinghe two very constant players in premier league tournament. i strongly believe that a players average can give everything so selectors just need to look at their averages.
