SUBA ANAGATHAYAK for SL cricket with Chairman of the selection committee., dulip mendis.

  • Ranjith A

My ealier comment was meant for an article in DM where Dilshan blames domestic cricket for team’s failure. It was a mistake I posted it on Sri Lanka Cricket

  • Ranjith A

Do not talk nonsense, it is not the domestic cricket for your and the teams failure. Team’s failure is mainly because you seniors hang to your places till people hate you all. Sanagakkara, Mahela and Dilshan should withdraw from the team with a short term plan with the idiotic selection committee, so that talented youngsters can get their due place. Should appoint a selection committee comprising past players like Madugalla, Mahanama and Roy Dias without any external pressure on them

There is nothing wrong with batting coach Marvan, as he is knowledgeable and one of the technically correct batsmen SL ever produced. Problem is with mainly those who appoint the selection committee and those who get appointed as selectors since mid nineties. These selectors, who are favourites of top, have their own favourites when it comes to team slections. So the best never get a chance at the right age. Even if they get a chance they are side lined. Since mid nineties so called seniors hang together like a bunch of bananas and do not allow a youngster to shine. They do it not only in Sri Lankan squad but at club level too to dump the up and coming youngsters. If we look at how the modern era seniors perform at their early stages, youngsters like Chandimal, Angelo Perera are way above them. Consider first class averages of all the favourites vs those who are knocking on the door. Ian Danniel, Ajantha Mendis are good examples of victimisation. Two Chamara’s, Mubarak, Herath, Tharanga are players who got into side mainly due to favourism. To make things worse now all seniors have their own (very influential) arrogant Managers. Thanks to our idiotic selectors soon we will become a mediocre cricketing nation.
