Bangladesh beat Sri Lanka by 6 runs in the SAG T20 final and won themselves the Gold medal for cricket in this year’s championship. The final was a keenly contested match. Winning the toss, the home team took first lease of the pitch. They made a defendable total of 157 for 7 wickets thanks to a quick fire 42 runs by Kamal Hassan and a valuable contribution of 37 by Mohamed Mithun. Salam Rahaman also played well for his 20.
For Sri Lanka, Sachith Pathirana bowled a tidy four over spell by conceding only 21 runs and capturing 2 wickets while Thisara Perera claimed 2 Bangladeshi wickets for 35 runs.
Sri Lanka in pursuit of 158 runs for victory fell short by 6 runs. Lahiru Thirimane top scored with 39, while Sachith Pathirana made a brisk 36. Skipper Ashan Priyanjana made a well compiled 25, but the rest of the batsmen failed to contribute. Sri Lanka was bowled out for 152 runs in 19.5 overs.
