It was no surprise for Sri Lanka to beat Maldives by a big margin of 147 runs and qualify for the finals at Mirpur tomorrow.
The biggest surprise is, that Gold medal favorites Pakistan were comprehensively beaten by Bangladesh by 52 runs and are out of the SAG T20 finals.
Sri Lanka simply outplayed Maldives to state the least. The only blemish the strong Sri Lankan side has had in the SAG games so far, was against Gold medal favorites Pakistan. Batting first Sri Lanka made the highest total of the tournament by scoring 220 runs for 3 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
Skipper Ashan Priyanjana made 92 runs in 50 balls, while Thisara Perera made a well compiled 41. Dilshan Munaweera made 27, however the young man must learn to convert the twentys into big scores. Satchith Pathirana got among the runs with 29, while K Perera made an impressive 27 for the winners.
Maldives made 75 runs for 5 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Angelo Perera took 2 wickets for 6 runs in his 4 over spell.
Bangladesh sprung a surprise by beating favorites Pakistan by 52 runs.

Yesterday at Mirpur the Bangladeshis came up with a sterling performance. Batting first they made 152 runs for 6 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Sabbir Rahman top scored with 46 while Nasir Hossain made 45. Mithun Islam contributed a valuable 32 for the winners. For Pakistan Junaid Khan took three scalps took 26 runs.
Pakistan was bowled out in 17.2 overs for 104 runs. Except Nayyar Abbas who made 37, the rest of the Pakistani batting was appalling. Shubashi Roy took 2 for 10 while Sangunaid Islam scalped 2 for 28.
Bangladesh meet Sri Lanka in the finals tomorrow and the organizers have made elaborate arrangements for a live coverage with DJ artist and top solo artist to perform before the start of the game scheduled at 5.30 pm, a day night encounter.
