Sri lanka will be white washed in rsa. batsmen haven’t any confidence to face rsa bowlers. They will bowl out cheeply in every test and ODIs. Sl goverment and cricket board already trying to destroy sl cricket

  • Priyantha

This is some good ideas for our openers (and also for the top order batsmen)

In an interview, Gautam Gambir said
…. I remember Rahul [Dravid] saying in an interview that it was very good to have two positive openers because they can score runs very freely and very quickly. Whenever me and Viru [Sehwag] open the batting, we always discuss scoring runs rather than surviving, because cricket is all about scoring runs. You can survive a whole session and score 30 to 50 runs, but suddenly you get out and realise that you have not taken the team anywhere. Instead, you’d rather have been 100 for 2 than 50 for 2. Both of us always look to be positive. Ultimately you want to score runs and put the opposition under pressure.

    …….. End of his saying.

This is the exact thing done by Clive Lloyd, Desmond Hanes, Viv Richard and company when they were there: they were real champions at that time. They did not care about loosing a match. What they really cared was whether they have scored runs or not. Ultimately they won alomst every match!!

why cant Upul Taranga play as test opener. He looks better suited than Dilshan, as he shows no hurry. He is quite young. Dont kill his talent by limiting to ODIs.

    PLEASE IGNORE MY PREVIOUS COMMENT
Dilshan, Mahela, Herath, have done nothing to be included in this side, Sangakkara too should bat very low down in the batting order, enabling the deserving youngsters to occupy those vital places. Mainly due to incompetency of selectors the promising youngsters the likes of Angelo Perera, Bhanuka, Rosen Silva, Sachithra Senanayake, Malinda Pushpakumara, Lahiru Jayampathi, Chathura Peiris are unable to find their due place in the National Side. A prospective selector ought to be an educated person of some intelligence, who have done a thorough study of this Great Game and should be well versed about what has happened in the Past, what is happening at Present & what can be happened in future in the World’s Stage of Cricket.

Just because somebody has played few matches for the Country, alone won’t make a good selector. Though the most fans aren’t aware, the best players emerged during the last 2 1/2 decades haven’t been picked and the quality players like Madugalle, Mahanama,Hashan, ,Marvan too were forced to retire earlier than they should have been, instead very ordinary players who have had no skills to stroke the ball all along the ground and known only for reckless hitting have been regarded as indispensable players by these incompetent selectors.
Players have to be picked on the basis of their consistency but not for things they have done in their previous birth. When a youngster is consistent and performing extraordinarily well, it is the right time to introduce him to National duties, because it is the time that his confidence is at its peak & his body is functioning at its very best. A player who can maintain any form of consistency as a youngster is always in a position to maintain that momentum even at his later career. No person can maintain any level of consistency without possessing proper skills of batting, therefore the selectors should value the youngster who maintains consistency in contrast to inconsistent overvalued seniors. The SLan s’ltors of last 30 ys have always preferred reckless hitters who have had no proper technique to play the ball all along the ground nor any control over most of the strokes they play to quality consistent performers. Thus they are clueless when picking young talent.

The Team badly needs batsmen who’re in a position to score a chance-less 50 at consistent basis, in contrast to those risky stroke-makers. In this respect none of the three seniors deserve a place in this team. Fans may argue that S’kara has been selected on merits, but as a person, who has been living with this Game for the last 57 ys, I strongly feel No 3 -4positions of a batting order is meant for stroke filled batsmen of solid technique & lightening reflexes who has total control over all strokes he plays. If a front-line batters starts missing, edging, lofting balls from the very the 1st ball he faces & unable to leave balls that should be left alone, then that sort of a batsman should be kicked out of the team sooner than later, because he may make things difficult for the batsmen to follow.

At a time the Country has young batsmen the class of Mathews , Chandimal, Angelo Perera, DimuthK, KausalS, Bhanuka, Thirimanne, Rosen S, WimangaP, Chathuranga de S, Kithruwan Withanage,…the services of reckless hitters aren’t needed any longer. The seniors have to be completely removed from the team because their presence in the Team may affect confidence of the youngsters. It is total madness of selectors if they want to keep these 3 till the next WC.

you got to be positive, just remember has south african ever made the final world cup? We ahchived twice, none of the teams are unbeatable, I think srilanka has strong batting squad, we got mahela and and sanga who scored 19,000+ test runs together

  • Thilina senadeera

This is a tough ask no doubt about that, specially if our batting performs like this in SA “NO MATTER NOTHING TO WATCH FOR SRILANKAN SPECTATORS………………………..”

  • nixar

no body can play for ever every one must understand that reality see australia how they gone bad when they lost adam gilcreast mathive headen shane warn magrath but still australia regard as danger team for every other cricket nation so please see the real facts behind our team i think politics&politician who has invaded sports like other fields

  • Kasun

What happen to Prasanna Jayawardana? He is best wicket keeper Sri Lanka ever have. He played really well against England. He knows how to cope bounsing tracks. Is he injured? Don’t rely on Samaraweera. Because our batsmans are sitting duck for the bouncing ball. SL Cricket must think about the future…..choose a young player as a captain. Think about next World Cup in 2015. Consider young players, they will be represent SL in next World Cup. Don’t afraid to lose a game. Winning or losing, it doesn’t matter, most importanat thing is giving match practice for youngsters.

  • Lakahan Fernando

    what’s this team ?
this squad good for pick coconut .
Dilshan ona welawaka mala panapu gaman, but defiantly dilshan is a good opener, fealder, bowler,he is good all rounder.dilshan is very good attack cricketer but he can’t handle team under the pressure .we like captain C for new face.
we haven’t good batsmans for one down like Asanka Gurusinghe. our team haven’t good facies, spriners, all rounders.
APE KATTIYA CEICKET GAHUWATA THAMA BOLAYAK WATH ALLANNA BEA.
    We want good attack side,players.
Please make good player of this new faces. our team is world champions don’t forget it and any way need experience players.
FINALY I WOULD LIKE TO SAY DON’T BE SLAVES UNDER THE POLITICIANS.
GOD BLESS FOR OUR NOTIONAL TEAM.

  • upuli

I don’t know why we should be scolding Dilshan about his captaincy! Come on people! give him some time! HE’S NOT A MIRACLE WORKER! and SO HOPE RANDIV WILL PLAY FOR THE ODI’S!

    • http://www.abs123.lk anona

yes. blame SLC. not the cricketers who are at least trying something. the hidden jokers have it verrrrrrrrrrrrrrry eeeeeeeeeeasy. we need dynamic guys for ODIs & T20, the selectors can take the decision rather than making the same squad over and over again. Limit the seniors for tests only e.g. Dravid, VVS. Even tendulkar is no more required for ODI & T20 though he is a great player.

  • upuli

Sad Randiv didn’t in! I think he doesn’t get the platform to perform his cricket much as he rarely plays for the team now! So i think SLC should give him another chance to improve and bring the old Randiv back!

  • http://tgrtrustforpeople.blogspot.com mohammadh rikzy

i m not satisfied with sri lanka’s coches. firstly when we look at geof marsh (head coach) he was the former coach of zimbabwe and havent had a good record as coach and what my idea is that he had taken sri lanka’s coaching not in the intention of devoloping the players abilities but to be recognised and to make money this is clear when we see the performance of SL in the recent tours and he is now very old and waiting to be ritired. and i m not too satisfied with othercoaches as well and i proporse for sri lankan player arivinda de silva as SL coach becoz he was a great allrounder and he knows very what the team requires at different situations and he is the man who can awake the team from its nightmare otherwise sri lanka would be worst than kenya just in two years.

  • http://tgrtrustforpeople.blogspot.com mohammadh rikzy

dilshan is not to blame for his captancy becoz when sanga and mahela was captaining they had a good inform side with lots of expierienced players. but dilshan has got deal with a team havijg an inexpierienced bowling line up followed by a batting line up which lacked consistency. when we look at arjuna ranatunga’s captency at the beginig sri lanka won once in a blue moon but later sri lanka won wc in 1996 like wise dilshan too should be given chances and i really like the way he uses the bowler as a result sri lanka had never let a team to go pass 270 under dilshan’s captency. what sl should do is to learn from their mistake and prepare an inform side for the SA tour. dilshan sanga mahela has had good batting averages against SA. so best wishes from me to the volatile SL TEAM.

  • Anushka

I think this should be a deciding tour for Dilshan. If it ends like the past ones he has captained he needs to gracefully step down!!It is time he leads from the front like Sanga did in his years as the Captain. There is no point in blaming the youngsters if he doesnt step up.Angelo Mathews will also have a point to proove as he is the VC.There should not be any players just for the sake of filling numbers.
Lets hope Sanga continues his great form and reaches 10000 runs soon.
Not having Mahels will be a great blow to the team too.

  • Susith

Drop Chandimal and Thirimanne. They are not in good form

Kepler Wessels has said that Sri Lanka has ONLY TWO batsmen: Mahela nd Sangakara. All the other batsmen are bellow the average. And what if they also fail? Then SL can be saved by others, that is only by chance!!

SL has no depth in any of departments of cricket unless boasting and big mouths

And further he has said that South African coach can experiment with new players for his team as SL is NOT a strong a side to play their all top guns in every match.

  • Rohan

Pls. give some chances to dilshan munaweera, ashan priyanjana & sachith pathirana in the ODI or T20 squad .

  • Former Sri Lankan Supporter

I really feel sorry for myself and many other Sri Lankans. South Africa are really brutal and in their conditions, they’ll be at their best. Look at them. Steyn, Morkel and totsobe. OMG how are these sl guys going to survive and to make it worse, they haven’t won a test for the past four test sereis they’ve played. SL wud have had a 40% chance if they were in good form and winning all their serieses. But their situation looks terrible. I can’t help it, but have to say that I predict a white wash or 2-0 victory to SA

  • peterson

    we have the batting.
one of the best number six batsmen in the world is Samaraweera.
IF HE WENT NUMBER 6 AS USUAL, THE WORLD CUP RESULT WOULD HAVE BEEN DIFFERENT. the batting order was completely changed at the world cup final.
he should remain there at no 6.
the first 6 batsmen should bat with more discipline, at least till they score 50 runs each. RULE- if one batsman scores a hundred in a limited over game, and 2 score hundreds in a 5 day match, there is over 90 percent chance of winning or not losing.
    IT’S NOT THE CAPTAIN’S FAULT.
IT’S EASY TO BLAME THE CAPTAIN. SUPPORT AND STANDBY DILSHAN, OR WHO EVER IS CAPTAIN.
the selectors are always a problem in Sri Lanka.

  • pandu

This ia a weak team alright. try to take time ad drw the matches. Heve plenty of batting practice and get on the nerves of the south africans. Play a mental game. Hope dishan understands thiis. He can ask sanga or mahels.

  • Zaman

i hate captaincy of Sri lanka… we need a again Sanga to Captaincy..bcz Dilshan is an unlucky Captain …
at least try to win this Series …plz dnt break our Hops…
    I love Sri Lanka Cricket….

  • Pubudu

Should include Banuka Rajapaksha in the ODI squad.. at least to give some exposure…
Also need to give a chance Schithra Senanayaka in the ODI squad as Suraj Randiv is performing below par

  • Kalana

Lets Hope This Is the last chance Dilshan gets. Otherwise Sri Lanka Cricket will be doomed for ever.

  • http://deleted kevin

well its not only because of the captaincy my friend… No murali No vaas No malinga… Dale steyn will be waiting to grab another record against this form of batting line up…

    • http://www.abs123.lk anona

duleep mendis & co. is playing against srilanka. They take blame.

  • Nushri

SL is geting ready for another white wash.:-D Under the captancy of DILSHAN its totally impossibel to win a match.specially aginst a country like SA.
