It was holiday cricket for the Sri Lankans who steam rolled Hong Kong in a warm up game at Hagley Park today.
Batting first, openers Andri Berenger and Udara Jayasundara put on 223 runs in 38.5 overs when the right handed wicket keeper retired out, after smashing an unbeaten 114.
Sri Lanka team management then decided to retire out Udara Jayasundera who reached his century in the 40th over.
Banuka Rajapaksa was out dismissed bowled for 42 in the 50th over, with Rumesh Buddika unbeaten on 28. Sri Lanka recorded 316 runs for 1 wicket in their allotted 50 overs.
Hong Kong bowled as many as 16 wides and gave the young Sri Lankans 4 free hits. Hong Kong was bowled out in the 49th over for 226. Mark Chapman top scored with an unbeaten 69.
Skipper Chatura Peiris had good figures of 3 for 24 with Suranga Rajaguru getting among the wickets accounting for 4 scalps for 43 runs.Rushan Jaleel was expensive he was carted a bit in his 7 overs when he leaked 49 runs, but had 1 scalp to his credit. Charith Jayampathi bowled economically for his 2 wickets off 6 overs in which he gave away only 23 runs.
Sri Lanka will be happy with their preparations with the big games that matter almost at hand.
