amazing!!!!!!!! chandimal not included for training match against WI, so I thought he would be leaving for Asian Games…But after I found he was not included there also…So I thought he would be included for ODI series…but he is not there… Pls mr. Aravinda de silva we cricket fans need explanation from you……If he is not getting chance to play for 1st team(national team) , he must be included for 2nd team (team which played practice game against WI)atleast…if he is not suit for 2nd team as per our selecting mupphets he should have been included for 3rd team which travelled for Asian games.Pls don’t act like stupids and don’t tarnish the future of youg cricketers…. aravinda pls explain the logic behind your selections

aravinda sir, this is a good squad.but there were some mistakes.chandimal is a good young player.look at kholi in india.indian selectors give lots of chances for their young players like kholi,rohit,raina,jadeja.because they are the future of cricket.sachin is a good batsman.no doubts for it.but indian seek and give chances to youngsters to be like sachin.we also need a player like sachin or mahela.but where were the chance for youngsters.every time sl chosen same and old side.u tharanga got lots of chances.but he could not play very well.fielding is also a not good for him although he got runs. I think chandimal is a talent young player.he is a wicket keeper.

I’m so sorry that I have failed in including Angolo Perera ( The Best Schoolboy Cricketer & the Best Batsman of the year 2009) who is an equally good player like Chandimal & has maintained a 1stClass Batting Ave of 44.71. Sangakkaras, Mahelas &Chamaras do not have this kind of records to boast of as schoolboys. Even their early ODI careers are very pathetic to describe here. It was sheer stupidity of selectors of last 25 years that they have failed to realize the value of players who have maintained consistency from very young age. We don’t have to see very far for examples, Mahela & Sangakkara are two good cases, even now with 900 odd Internationals in between them, they still struggle to bat under pressure & under difficult batting conditions, please see for yourself how they have performed in Bangladesh & Zimbabwe. Some local media personnel who are very busy on making the game of Rugby as No 1 sport in Sri Lanka does not highlight these shortcomings of these star players or maybe they too very much ignorant of the Game like the National Selectors. Since the selectors of last 10 years had no life without Mahela, Sangakkara, Mubarak & Chamaras many a brilliant schoolboy cricketers of last decade must have had lost interest of the Game by now or they must have left the country as many past National cricketers did after retirement abandoning the country’s cricket. We don’t hear much of Ian Daniel, Sahan Wijeratnne, Nilushan Nonis, Lahiru Peiris….who have won the Best Schoolboy Cricketer & the Best Batsman of the year Awards previously. At a time players of the caliber of Chandimals & Angelo Pereras have become worthless in the eyes of these stupid spineless selectors, what’s the justice all others can expect from them. Sri Lankan cricket enthusiasts are highly worried over the Future of Cricket in this Country, because neither the politicians nor the media personnel have done anything to uplift the Game in the country as it happens in our neighboring countries. I am sure they (fans) are quite aware that the responsible people have done nothing to keep the young in the game as it happens in India & Pakistan.

Yesterday i some bought orange from market. Shop owner has sold me 2 rotten orange fruit to me with good ones. This team selection is same. Good selection and has add their favorite players ( Dilhara and Chamara silva ) to sit in the bench. Surely compared with the others they will have to sit on the bench . But Aravinda, sri lankan young talented players should be given that chance. Dilhara is a Strike bowler. It is some times true. But his issue is he is not consistence. If he play well for one match he will be failed for several matches. Cricket is not a game which tests fortune. Selecting committee must select a best team while giving chances to young generation to learn.

If we are to win or draw any tournament that we participate, at consistent basis we need quality young batsmen ( With experience we know Young quality batsman’s’ agility, flexibility, quickness in reflex & eye sight is 1000 times better than players who are around 30 years & above) ) who know how to preserve their wickets under trying circumstances the likes of modern day batsmen Jonathan Trott, Ian Bell, Hasim Amla, AB de Viliers Virat Koli, …With them bowlers have no loop holes to break in & with their water tight defense bowlers lose their confidence in no time. Above all they play only very few risky (false, edgy & lofted) strokes. The top grade batsmen can always play the ball all along the ground, right from the middle of the bat at will.

It is good for cricket enthusiasts of SL that it rains through entire series, rather than watching these same old players ( who were very ordinary schoolboy cricketers selected & given numerous opportunities to represent the national teams due to incompetency of selectors of last 25 years) playing for the Country all the time irrespective of their shoddy performances, while deserving schoolboy cricketers of last 5 years have been asked to sit out while young players of other countries have taken the center stage of their respective National teams. Very few people only aware that we have lost almost all ODI tournaments since 2007(Lost five home series to England once, India thrice and Pakistan once in recent times,)& hardly won any Test match outside the country. If we had won any that is mainly due to our young players who have joined the team recently & the promotion of Dilshan to the opening position who has been wasted as a middle-order batsman in the best part of his career.
