Sri Lankan team management in Bangladesh confirms that 20 year old left handed batsman Lahiru Thirimanne is set to make his international debut today against India for the 2nd ODI of the IDEA cup scheduled to get underway at 1400hrs Sri Lankan time.
Thirimanne who turns out for Ragama Cricket Club is known to be one of the brightest young batting prospects of the country. Known for his all round ability to accumilate and accelerate when neccessary he’s tipped to be suited to all forms of the game. His batting position for today’s game is yet to be decided by the team management.
Sri Lanka’s injury woes were further heightened with injuries to Tillekeratne Dilshan and Chamara Silva last night. Dilshan suffered a groin strain while Silva suffered a finger injury. Management is awaiting reports from the team physio to asses the recovery periods.
Sri Lanka have lost the services of Mahela Jayawardena, Muttiah Muralidharan, Angelo Mathews & Dilhara Fernando for this tournament due to injury.
